Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Luckily for students, Atlanta is a fun city, and people at Emory need to party, so they figure out ways to do it. With the dwindling party scene on campus comes the now-rampant club promoting game, that gives students looking to go crazy an outlet. Most Emory students that do party, including nearly all of Greek life, go out on Thursday nights to various clubs promoted by other students in either Buckhead or Midtown. Tuesday is also a big night, with many students venturing out to different areas of Atlanta for fun. Nearly every night of the week is a good one for Maggie’s Bar and Grill, about a five-minute cab ride from campus—a poorly lit and stuffy bar known for letting anyone and everyone in.

On weekends, Buckhead and Midtown are great places to go, with some clubs in Buckhead offering free admission and relaxed dress codes, while others can cost up to $20 and require dressy attire. Midtown is mainly dressy and almost every club charges to get in. Either place is great for a long night, but be advised that almost nowhere in Atlanta is 18-and-up, which means that it’s a very exciting city to go to college in, and a tremendous place to party—but only if you’re 21. If not, you’ll be limited to fraternity and house parties for fun, which isn’t all that bad.

There is lots to due at night at Emory. Local bars are sometimes busy with lots of college students. Frats do have some basic parties but the baseball team throws the best parties.

Fun Stuff Far Away

there are a lot of awesome clubs and bars, but you need to pay for a cab for most of the places, unless you go to the local emory places, but it'll still cost like $5 total roundtrip. lots of clubs for 18+ and when you get older cool neighborhoods to go to

Frat Row

There are certainly plenty of parties to go to on any night of the week. That doesn't mean you have to party though; there are a ton of good restaurants in Atlanta and a bunch of volunteering projects as well. However, the majority of people are studying during the week so you'll be pretty limited on how many people are around to go with you.

Facts

Club Crawler

The best places to find clubs in Atlanta are in Buckhead and in Midtown. Buckhead is a nice mixture of about twenty-five bars and clubs, from dress-down to dress code, all with their own certain charm and nuances. Midtown has mainly swanky clubs with some bars, but everything there is a little dressier than in Buckhead. Both places are 21-and-up only. Last call everywhere is 2:30 a.m. and nearly every bar closes at 3 a.m.

Bar Prowler

There are some great areas for bars in Atlanta, including Buckhead, Virginia Highlands, East Atlanta, Little Five Points, and Midtown. Bars here range from hip and crazy to calm and full of yuppies, but most are a good time.

Bar ListingsWhat's This?

Maggie’s Bar and Grill

Basically Famous’s neighbor, Maggie’s attracts an all-Emory crowd almost any night of the week, and treats the youngsters well, too. This very small bar is often so crowded that it gets hard to move, but people keep flocking back every night. This is a great place to find cheap drinks and cheap college students, which mix perfectly together.

2937 North Druid Hills

(404) 636-5300

Neighbor’s

Neighbor’s is usually filled with yuppies, but there is also almost always an Emory section, too. This bar in the Highlands has a huge deck, which is wonderful on nice spring and summer nights, and is within walking distance of numerous other bars.

752 N. Highland Ave. NE

(404) 872-5440

Famous

A huge sports bar nestled in a strip mall near school, Famous is a great place to spend a football Sunday or a weekend night for their cheap drinks and good food. Don’t try your fake ID here, though; they can always spot an Emory youngster.

2947 North Druid Hills Rd.

(404) 633-3555

LuLu’s

LuLu’s is known for their $1 drinks for girls on Tuesdays, their enormous upstairs with great views in all directions, and most importantly, their fishbowls. These plastic fishbowls are filled with grain alcohol and punch, served on the rocks, with as many straws as you have friends to help you drink one.

2057 Peachtree Rd. NE

(404) 262-5220

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?

While Emory used to offer underage club nights on Thursdays, the Atlanta City Council recently passed an ordinance that prohibits anyone under the age of 21 from going to clubs. Unfortunately, this limits the choices for underagers to frat parties, or fake IDs.
