Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are numerous (probably too many) parking decks on campus. Police and the Parking Department are very hard on parking tickets and are also quick to tow, so one must always have a parking tag (roughly $330), and not park illegally, lest they want to take a 30-minute car ride to pay S&W Towing. If you obey the rules, parking is easy here. There are various types of parking passes, each one allowing parking at one specific deck or area.

Paid parking is also usually available during the day, though not always in a convenient location. Freshmen are not allowed to have a car, although no one really checks to see if they do. If you want one as a freshman, and you also want to park it on campus, you will need an upperclassman without a car to purchase you a pass. This process is usually not that hard, but it can be time-consuming finding someone. Once you do have a car on campus, be very careful about where you park, and don’t chance it unless you feel you have to. Emory can be very unfair about ticketing and towing. Supposedly, if you make friends with the women who work in the parking office, you can get some of your tickets erased, but nothing comes for free.

SO EXPENSIVE

you can not have a car until your sophomore year. When you do bring a car you are assigned a certain parking deck, and only one of them is to convenient, and only seniors get that deck. Additionally it costs $660 a year for a parking pass!

Parking on Campus

WAY overpriced. I feel taken advantage of. When costs are this high it does not seem fair that so many people seem to get away with parking in lots where they are not permitted to do so.
