They offer a good variety of interesting classes from introductory classes to very specific classes. The teachers are passionate about what they teach. The class sizes are very small. My largest class is like 40 people and it's a lecture class. It is a VERY intense reading/writing school so be prepared for that.

The workload is a little rough, but all of the work is relevant, none of it is "busy-work". I, like the majority of the student body at Lang, have not yet declared my major. I've met Juniors who haven't yet declared. Such is Lang's curse and blessing. The only majors that seem to have clear-cut curriculums are the literary studies, media studies, and psychology majors which are the most popular majors at Lang. On the bright side, you never have to take math again if you don't want to!

I have not been too impressed with the academics in the school. There are few class options and they are all incredibly similar and stray far from the typical class topics. Eugene Lang is very much geared towards a specific person and if you do not fit that mold than the school is not for you. While they do offer the average basic language, social science classes and etc, given that Lang is a small school, there are not many options.
In terms of the learning style, the classes are small and seminar style which means that the focus is placed on class discussion and voicing your opinion. However, the opinions at Lang are all very similar and therefore the discussions remain incredibly one sided, that being the far left-sided, liberal point of view. I have been criticized for having opinions that stray from the majority and as a result fear expressing those views because it could impact my grades. One professor in a writing class went as far as to start a discussion that revolving around how republicans ruined the elephant. Need I say more?
Overall, I have found and have heard from others that Lang has an incredibly small selection of classes to take, that is very much geared towards a certain point of view.

Lang is a very great place to learn if you are a talker. It is almost all discussion based so you need to get involved but, when you do, you will learn a ton.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
