I am an independent student. I live an hour away. I don't spend a lot of time at the school unless I am in class.

Olympia is small but it has a great music scene and apprciates keeping business local.

Olympia is fairly small, but downtown offers a great atmosphere. There are several locally owned coffee shops, tons of places to eat, thrift stores, tattoo parlors, and a couple bars. Arts Walk and the Procession of the Species are great community events.

Quiet calm and safe. It's surrounded by green and isn't really a busy place.

Olympia has very little variety as far as atmosphere goes. It has many alternative/free form/counterculture/"hippie" options, but nothing different than that.
There are a few (very expensive) boutiques and restaurants downtown, but they're not worth the price (except for King Soloman's Reef, which is excellent and decently priced). The hiking and nature surrounding Evergreen is breathtaking, but if you're not a nature person, there's not much else. I AM a nature person, but having no options gets old very quickly.
The local attitude toward students is wary and slightly bitter.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
