While Public Safety on campus tries to enforce the long list of rules and regulations the department has in place, the majority of students is able to get away with whatever it wants, as long as students try to take a smart approach to it. The campus takes a very strict policy toward alcohol, and there are a few RAs who will get you in trouble if they can, but most of the RAs are lenient and forgiving. If you are caught having alcohol or a party in your room, then you can expect to be written up and pay a fine. The fines and penalties can be reduced if it is your first offense or if you explain yourself to the Dean of Judicial Affairs.
The administration is flexible to a point, but if you constantly disregard them and continue to get caught, then they will enforce their policies on you and may even remove you from living in the residence halls. Dorm visitations are very simple, and many students simply ignore the restrictions because it is so difficult to be caught. The only rules on campus that are constantly enforced are parking violations, for which students will receive parking tickets anywhere from $25 to $100.
