FIT’s population of girls can be overwhelming at times. You will notice that in certain classes, there are only two guys, and one is most likely gay, while the other is straight. This means that the one straight guy likely has over 25 potential girls to hook up with! In fact, men that work in Manhattan sit near campus to eat lunch, hoping to meet a girl. You will see groups of guys in business suits talking to any FIT girl that gives them a chance.
A dating scene does not really exist at FIT. There are some guys and girls that date, but the majority of dating here happens within the gay community. If you are a girl and can find a straight guy to date at FIT, that is a rare commodity.

Birth Control Available?
Yes - Female students can have an exam done in the Health Center or by their own doctor and can purchase birth control at the Health Center for $10. There are also free condoms available.
Social Scene
It can be hard to meet students from other majors, and a majority of students are commuters, so there's no real main social scene on campus. Students who are part of a social scene at FIT are either dorm residents or involved with a club or organization. If you want a social scene, it's here; you just have to go out of your way to find it.
Hookups or Relationships?
Most girls on campus are in relationships, but not with guys from FIT. You will see more gay relationships between the guys than anything else. Girls: don't expect to meet the love of your life at FIT. Guys: if you're gay, your chances are far higher; if you're straight, FIT is a gold mine of hot girls.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
FIT students are heavily involved in their schoolwork and/or working part- or full-time. If students do hit it off at school, it’s generally from meeting in class, the dorms, or during extracurricular activities. The top place to meet people from outside of FIT is at one of the bars or clubs in New York City. A lot of students at FIT are also friends with NYU or Pace University students.
Dress Code
Remember what FIT stands for; hence, fashion is a major concern for students here. A popular fashion rule at FIT is that there are no rules! Students wear anything from jeans to business attire to their own handmade clothes. Dress to impress or wear your sweats. Just don't look like you are trying too hard.
