Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

To students, the security around FIT is considered very strict; however, the level of security adds to the level of safety for students attending FIT. The safety level makes perfect sense, considering the school is located in New York City. The block that FIT resides on, 27th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues, is blocked from oncoming traffic between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The security office also works close with the NYPD, as officers are often seen on campus, to add to the level of safety.

Students must be smart and use common sense to stay safe in New York City. It can be a dangerous place at times, as any city can be. Staying alert is a critical habit that one must be accustomed to while living in such a big city. When it comes to health, FIT has an on-site health center located on the fourth floor of the David Dubinsky Center (the A Building). All full-time students have access to the features of the health center. The health center provides general medical and gynecological care. It is staffed by nurse practitioners and physicians.

Super Safe

I feel really safe living on campus. There is security 24/7 in each building. FIT is actually the 8th safest campus in USA. Is great that you get to live in NYC without any worries.

Security in FIT

Like other schools, FIT get security officers and also have relation with the NYC Police Department. I recommend student make friends. To have at least someone with them is better than go out alone.
