It's easy to discover that unless you have to drive outside of the city, it's best to stick with public transportation. Parking is hard, and cab drivers do not like to share the road with other cars. 

Driving into Manhattan will cost you in tolls and also extremely high parking rates. Traffic is really bad, and most cab drivers drive with rage, making it unsafe for others on the road. Parking regulations are strict and vary from street to street. It is suggested to take advantage of the transportation that is provided to the public, through buses and subways.

You Don't Drive in New York

its difficult even to get in when you are moving into the dorms. You definitely don't need a car. But the school is situated between the 1 train (7th ave) and ACE trains( 8th ave)

No Need for Parking

Parking is impossible near the school because it is so deep in the city and your car would get towed. So having a car is out of the question and public transportation is the best way to get around along with walking.

There is no student parking at FIT.

Did You Know? Although the best places to park without getting a ticket are in parking garages or clearly marked parking lots, the price to park is outrageous.
