Some of the facilities are nicer than others. The computer facilities are really great, while the gym is comparable to the standard high school gymnasium. There isn’t a problem with any of the facilities; just some have updated features, while others lag behind. |

The housing is great, although small. It’s much cheaper than finding an apartment in Manhattan. |

I have lived in all the dorms, and I think they are all fairly nice, considering they are college dorms, but they are not five-star hotels. |

I lived in Alumni Hall my first year, and it was nice. But the other dorms, I felt, were more sociable because they had game rooms in their basements and an outdoor area behind the building. Alumni Hall is more closed off, and the doors of residents are always closed rather than open. |

Alumni rooms are nice since you get your own bathroom and kitchen facilities. Co-ed suites are great, too, since you only have one other roommate, and you also have your own bathroom and kitchen facilities. |

I guess if I were forced to live on campus, I would live in Alumni Hall. The dorm is coed, and students live in mini-suites with private baths and kitchens. |

Dorms are okay—definitely livable but not anything spectacular. |

I never spent time in the Student Center. The gym is small, and the hours are not very convenient. The equipment is decent, however. |

The athletic workout room is very small. The computer lab in the bottom of the C Building is my favorite. All of the facilities are clean and nice. |

Tons of hot girls, but guys—what guys? The majority of the guys are gay, so if you are looking for Mr. Right and you are a straight girl, look elsewhere. |

The student body at FIT is one of the best-looking in the country. You have both guys and girls wanting to look their best 24/7; it’s almost overwhelming for an outsider to walk onto the FIT grounds and see almost every student dressed to the nines, even for a 9 a.m. class. But that’s FIT, and the students don’t want it any other way. |

Who needs Greek life when you are in New York City? There are so many better things to get involved with. |

The campus may be strict with security, but I would rather feel safe than get upset over having to show my ID everywhere around school. |

Residential Life and FIT have strict drug and drinking policies that are enforced if broken. FIT is a dry campus, and they intend on keeping it that way. |

FIT, overall, is a great school in a prime location, which provides one with the opportunity to grow, explore, and take advantage of being in the city. The school has an eclectic group of individuals who attend, teach, and run the college. |

I love FIT and my classes, I love...
I love FIT and my classes, I love the friends I’ve made, and I love how much I have grown since living in Manhattan. You definitely step back and realize how much there is out there, and you realize that you have to do everything you can to seize every opportunity this great city has to offer. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I do love being home, but NYC has a way to revitalize me and make me work to my fullest potential. NYC is one of the most competitive places, and FIT is helping me have an edge in the field I wish to conquer. |

There are a good number of girls who are models. I’ve found that most of the girls date older, professional guys rather than FIT guys. As for the male population, I’d estimate the guys are split in half between gay and straight. |

The worst aspect about living in the dorms is that you only get one year in them, and then the school forces you to find your own living arrangements. |

I love FIT. There is one big...
I love FIT. There is one big frustration I do have with the school, though. Dealing with all the different offices, such as bursar and registrar, can become frustrating. The offices don’t really know what the others ones are doing, so they send you on wild goose chases, and nine times out of ten, you end up back where you started. Besides that, there is so much here to get involved with and to experience. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. |

A lot of students will argue with security because they do not have their ID with them, and they are late to class and want to just walk in the school. Beware, because the security will stop you and hold you until your school enrollment status is verified on their computers. This can be strange to newcomers at first, but remember that you are in New York City, and you don’t want just anyone to walk into the school. |

The computers at FIT are decent. They offer the essentials: Word, Excel, Photoshop, and the Internet. The labs are only crowded when it gets closer to midterms and finals. |

Computer labs during midterms and finals are always crowded. During the semester, it depends on what lab you go to and what time you go. If you have a small laptop and it’s not a hassle to carry it around, I would suggest doing so. |

I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes in the labs for a computer, and that’s during the busiest times of the day. Students very rarely bring laptops to class, and professors are usually quite put off by them. |
