Fitchburg is a small school with 3,500 undergraduates. The campus is thriving throughout the week but does die down on weekends. Many students are Massachusetts residents, and many students have cars on campus, which makes traveling easy on weekends. However, the first week or two of the school year is when many students stay on campus to make new friends.
The professors really do their best to get to know each and every student. They have open office hours when students can ask questions about papers or projects or just have conversations with their professors. Most classes are never larger than 25 students. The top majors on campus are communications, education, and nursing. The communications department is one of the top departments in the entire country. Each student in the department is required to complete an internship in the final semester before graduation.
Job placement after graduation can go either way for students, depending on how aggressive you are in the process, you could find some great opportunities right away, or you could be searching for a while. The Career Services office on campus is always willing to help students work on résumés, search for internships, apply for jobs during or after school, and prepare for job interviews.
