It only affects some events when it rains, but it normally is fine.

At first I was struggling with my work loads because I felt like too much was thrown at me, plus i'm on the soccer team, which made it harder for me to mange my time. But as time went on, I learned how to work through my classes and stay on point in all my classes.

Health & Safety:
It's a really safe place to be, police are always around 24/7, which makes it even more safe.
College Freshman 2013-10-23T03:56:35Z
The apartments are literally part of the campus. They are legit 2 minutes away from the campus. One can stand on his porch and see the buildings on campus. I've never live in an apartment before, but I heard its really affordable. Its about $300 a month
College Freshman 2013-10-23T03:51:33Z
Fitchburg is a very friendly environment, everyone get along so well. Since i've been here for the past months, there have been no fights that i'm aware of. The campus is a safe place to live in because there's a police station, and a fire department station less than 5 minutes away.

There are 3 sororities and 2 fraternities. None of them have an off campus houses. They are low-key and mainly do philanthropy events. Most Greeks are social to non-Greeks in social events.

Local shuttle through campus and a train station and the end of the road provides easy transportation to Boston and back. We also receive discounts on the buses.
College Freshman 2013-09-05T00:26:57Z
While the shuttle makes it easy to travel to some classes, it's not available as often as I'd like, and getting from the gym to the McKay building in time for my next class is difficult, impossible when walking.
College Freshman 2013-09-05T00:25:48Z
People from all different walks of life come to this school and we're all equally accepted and treated alike. Because the school is so diverse, even the students seem to be pretty acceptable of one another.

I am in the nursing program at Fitchburg State and it is fantastic. Very challenging with great professors to motivate you to do your best. Prepares you to be a great nurse.
College Senior 2013-07-20T23:53:11Z
Campus shuttles are convenient but not frequent. Walking at night from the parking lots to campus isn't very safe, if shuttles were more frequent and danger of walking at night would be gone.

Varsity sports at Fitchburg State are awesome. You feel part of campus life and community.

My undergraduate degree is in Psychology and Communication Disorders and so I decided I wanted to get my Masters Degree as a Mental Health Counselor. Fitchburg State University is accredited for the preparation required toward Licensure. Many of the professors that teach each subject have had first hand experience in what they teach. For example, Research and Development is taught by a professor currently in the field of Research, Ethics is taught by a professor on the Licensing Board, etc. I have been very pleased with my graduate work thus far. I am not sure of my immediate career goals, however, I eventually hope to be in private practice combining my spiritual training with my current mental health training.

I have never eaten in the main cafeteria, but there is a small cafeteria in the student center which offers various options for quicker meals. The food has been quite good the times I have eaten there. There are many healthy options.

I have never lived on campus at this school. I can only write based on my observation. I attend classes in the evening an the campus is relatively quiet. The dorms are older, yet appear clean and well kept. I am not very familiar with the social atmosphere, but I am sure it is decent. It appears as though many students take their academic work pretty seriously.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone that I have come to know in my classes have been very supportive. They all really care about each other. Everyone puts most of the pressure to succeed on themselves and everyone works extremely hard. I am very grateful to be with such a wonderful group of students. I know they will make amazing counselors.

I am very satisfied with my major. The professors do all they can to make sure all of their students succeed.

As a biology major, the school has done a great job establishing the correct topics to teach and in obtaining the best lab supplies to make the learning fun.

The drug scene is not really big. If people are doing drugs is usually just smoking. Drinking is a much more popular activity.

It's pretty much democrats at FSU but I have found many republicans and moderates. I feel some people don't know when to stop voicing their opinions but it goes with their personality type most of the time. We have political discussions without going overboard and i enjoy hearing different sides of the same issue.

I applied and was interviewed by a college recuiter at my high school, due to my SAT scores, essay and application, I was accepted earlier than most, although I was very nervous being a senior in high school. The process for nursing application at FSU is difficult in the fact that it is very hard to transfer in, it is much easier to start as a freshman so you can automatically be enrolled in the nursing program when you pass your pre recs in your freshman year.

I am in Nursing and have found my courses to be very challenging, either you are up to the take or you are not cut out for the program. It is a very goal oriented program so I think it's great because there are challenging expectations that must be met and that's the bottom line. I love how involved the college is with getting students together and trying to bridge the gap between commuters and residents. The clubs are phenomenal and the funding that clubs get really help to keep them running and provide a great outsource for students instead of drinking and partying. There are great counseling services and there are so many resources for any help that is needed including resume making and helping students find jobs and internships. The food could be a bit better but there are healthy food choices and with the nursing program, it is very tight-nit and we all work together, the four years, to help each other with tutoring, with questions or concerns, and the office is great if we ever need help with something.

If you know people who live off-campus, there are always parties to attend. Older students do go to bars around the campus sometimes, but there is usually always a party going on at an off-campus house.
College Junior 2013-07-10T15:47:50Z
There is a large variety of off-campus housing at Fitchburg State. It is usually very easy to find apartments that are not too expensive. However, the apartments are not always as nice as you would want them to be.

There are many different majors to choose from at Fitchburg State. As a Psychology major I have found that there are many opportunities for internships as you get to be an upper classman. I have also found my advisor to know a lot about different programs and he has been incredibly helpful.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
