The Underground is the only pub on campus. It is currently under construction with the renovations of the Hammond Campus Center, but it should be available for students around the Spring 2012 semester. The Underground is a very popular location to reserve for club events.
Bowling on Campus
There is no bowling on campus, but there are two bowling alleys nearby: Mason's Bowling Center, 640 N. Main St., Leominster; and Gardner Ten Pins, 560 W. Broadway, Gardner. Ten Pins has galactic bowling Fridays from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. for $13 per person and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. for $22 per hour per lane. Fridays are first come, first served, and they recommend making reservations for Saturdays.
Coffeehouse on Campus
Commuter Café and McKay Café
Movie Theater on Campus
Occasionally, a club or Housing may show a movie on campus either in the residential halls or in Ellis White Lecture Hall. The closest off-campus movie theater is Cinema World on John Fitch Highway, and their prices are very reasonable. Students with a One Card receive a discount after 6 p.m. every day. There is another movie theater, Entertainment Cinemas, in Leominster next to the Mall at Whitney Field.
"Green" Initiatives
Environmentally friendly projects on campus are being added every year. Mara 8 in the Mara Village residential hall is LEED certified. The Hammond Campus Center and the Condike, the science building, are being renovated. FSU is expanding the Condike to include brand new labs for the science classes, with state-of-the-art equipment, textbooks, and technology. The Hammond Campus Center will become the "hub of the campus" again once this project is complete. There will be a six-story glass tower facing the city of Fitchburg and a main stairwell that will travel through all levels of the building. The on-campus pub and Commuter Café will be expanded and updated with more options for students. These two projects should be done or near complete by 2014.
School Slang
  • Campus: Campus Pizza, convenience store and pizza place on Highland Avenue
  • Daka: Holmes Dining Commons-the school has tried to get rid of the name because that was the catering company 13 years ago, but it has just stuck with students.
Traditions
  • Family Weekend: A weekend full of events, a football game, and cook out for students and their families.
  • Greek Week: The fraternities and sororities have a week of tournaments and challenges all across campus.
  • Monthly Bingo: FAB has a bingo night every month. If there is a holiday or special time of year coming up, bingo will also have a theme. There are tons of great prizes too, like TVs, GPS, gift cards, food, and more.
  • RAVE Nightclub: FAB creates a nightclub on campus to close out Spring Week. There is a DJ, glow-in-the-dark body paint, tons and tons of glow sticks, and lots of dancing.
  • Spring Week: The first week in May is filled with events that correspond with an overall theme. One day there is a huge concert or comedian that comes to campus. All events are sponsored by FAB.
Urban Legends
Years ago, a freshman girl committed suicide by jumping out her window on the 11th floor of Aubuchon Hall.
Favorite Things To Do
There are tons of clubs and organizations on campus for students to join. The biggest clubs and organizations include the Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB), the Dance Club, and Greek life. All students have the opportunity to apply for jobs on campus with many departments, such as student development, information technology, admissions, etc. Many students enjoy hanging out on the Quad when the weather is nice. The Quad is a grassy area in the middle of the academic halls where students can throw a Frisbee around or sit under a tree with their laptops. There is also a well-equipped recreation center on North Street that many students take advantage of. There is a basketball court, dance studios, pool, track, and weight room.

Clubs and Organizations on Campus
There are tons of clubs and organizations on campus for students to join. There are groups specific to your heritage, your interests, and even academics. If there is not a club that interests you, you may start your own club. In order to start a new club you must have an adviser, a list of at least ten members, a letter of intent, a constitution, and the completed hazing forms. Once this is complete, your club will be reviewed by the Student Government Association, and they will approve or deny your request.

Did You Know?
  • The Student Government Association (SGA) is the voice of the student body when it comes to problems, concerns, and many rules on campus. There are different committees that take care of things like events and fundraising for each class, delegating funds to different clubs and organizations, communicating with higher administration, and keeping other clubs and organizations connected with each other.
  • The Dance Club is one of the largest clubs on campus. The classes are all taught by students. They have classes that range from jazz to modern to tectonic to African. They perform two shows every year to show off their work.
  • The Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) organizes and runs the majority of the major events on campus. They schedule comedians, bands, solo artists, magicians, charity events, BINGOs and many more events throughout the year. At the end of the year, they are in charge of Spring Week, a themed week full of large-scale events including a major concert. Previous years' concerts featured Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory, and Wiz Khalifa.
