Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Florida A&M University will prepare you to excel in your future career. The professors push and encourage their students to go beyond their limits. There are no handouts at the University—you have to work hard and earn your grades. FAMU also offers lots of student organizations, and it’s recommended that you get involved with at least one. Many students met some of their best friends through campus organizations.

The University is also unique because it is rich in tradition and culture. Students here bleed orange and green, and their love for the University stays with them after graduation. In fact, FAMU has a huge alumni following, and alumni are constantly coming back to campus for events. Another unique thing about FAMU is the University’s award-winning marching band, Marching 100. The band has performed in Super Bowls, appeared on national TV, including CBS News and ESPN College Day, performed with Kanye West and Jamie Foxx at the 2006 Grammys, and was even asked by President Obama to play at one of his events. Many FAMU students say there is no doubt in their minds that they would choose the University again if they had the choice. This University is truly a home away from home and continues to produce educated and successful future leaders.

Off-Campus Housing at Florida A&M University

Apartments

Most of Tallahassee's housing is focused on students. There are great places to live...especially if you want to live around other college students. I lived near the Governor's Square Mall...and it was perfect because I didn't feel like I was on campus.

Around town apartments are nice and there are a lot that can fit ANYONE'S price bracket.

FAMU and Food

During my freshman year, there was only one place to eat...THE CAF. But during my senior year, 2010-2011, they opened up the commons. Most food on campus is battered and deep fried. There are no vegetarian options...and if you're a vegan, FORGET ABOUT IT.
