Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Life in Tally is what you make it. The city and the locals are very welcoming to the students, but there really isn’t much to do in the city that doesn’t revolve around FAMU or Florida State University. The clubs and parties make life here worthwhile, and school-related events, such as football games, step shows, band competitions, and choir balls, are fun. Probably the best time to enjoy life in Tallahassee is during the homecoming weeks for FAMU and FSU. However, there are a few local attractions to keep students entertained. Lake Ella is a nice spot to take a walk with your significant other, Tallahassee’s art museum is perfect for art lovers, and the local movie theaters are hot spots for students throughout the week.

When students want to venture away from campus, the first place they usually escape to is Governor’s Square Mall. Tallahassee only has two malls, which upsets students, but it doesn’t stop them from hanging out at one of them. Florida State is about a five-minute drive from the FAMU campus, and students at the two universities will hang out: FAMU students like to spend time on the FSU campus, and FSU students like to hang out on The Set at FAMU. Tallahassee also has a community college, which is about 15 minutes from both universities. Overall, most things that students like to do here revolve around college life and not the city’s limited entertainment options and attractions.

To Each His Own

I'm from Miami and the move to Tallahassee, FL was pretty boring. There are clubs, trees, and a lot of dining options. If you are not into the party atmosphere and don't eat every hour on the hour, you have to create your own fun.

Tallahassee, FL

Tallahassee, although the capital of Florida, is a very small city. The good thing about it being so small though is that everything and everywhere you need to go is nearby. The mall has pretty much all the major stores that most people are used to, it's easy to find activities to do during the night time, or over the weekend, however there are not too many cultural events.
