Financial Aid

The financial aid process at this college is definitely an experience. FAMU is not the most modern school and they take a long time to post your financial aid and even distribute it to pay for classes. Although it was a hassle I did receive the financial aid I needed.

Where to Begin?

The financial aid service at my university is beyond horrible. They never answer their phones & the only way to really get in touch with them is to go into the office which isn't much better. It takes forever to receive your refund check which is problem when you live off campus & have rent that needs to be paid. They never fully answer your questions & they always give you the run around which becomes stressful to every student.

Advice on Financial Aid

The financial aid process here is dreadful. So, students fill out your FAFSA on time and correctly! If your financial aid paperwork is not filled out properly, then the entire process will be delayed. Loans are easy to get if a student qualifies. The lines are always long in the beginning of the year, and sometimes the staff can be really rude because of the frustration of dealing with many student complaints.

Some overall tips for making the process as smooth as possible are to fill out your FAFSA before the deadline, always have a copy of your parents' tax return ready to show, if needed, and turn in everything on time.
