Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

For most students, FAU was not their first-choice school. While it is a large school, most students are commuters, and it seems as though almost anyone can be accepted. However, once students arrive on campus, they realize that there are many activities and events to get involved with and that maybe their experience will not be so bad after all.

FAU is an up-and-coming school and is growing in students and facilities every year. However, most students do not plan to attend for their entire college career. Many are just using FAU to get their feet on the ground and to get general education classes out of the way. A huge percent of the student population transfers after two years to a larger, more college-town type of school.

It is very hot in South Florida with temperatures typically in the 90s. It also rains a lot. June to November is hurricane season and classes can get canceled for this but not usually.

Cafeteria

The cafeteria at Florida Atlantic University is much like a food court at a mall. There are a lot of chain fast food restaurants there which makes for a nice variety but not too many healthy choices. The cafeteria is always crowded and it hard to find a seat.
