Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

All full-time freshmen are required to reside in University housing. Algonquin Hall is a suite-style building available to both upperclassmen and freshmen. Glades Park Towers is the newest residence hall, specifically designated for students who will be taking college courses for the very first time. It's a suite-style residence hall consisting of both double and single rooms. The University Village Apartments accommodate more than 500 upper-division undergraduate and graduate students. In general, first-year college students are not eligible to reside in the apartment community. The apartments offer both studio efficiency and four-bedroom apartments. Indian River Towers is a suite-style residence hall featuring both double and single rooms, and is open to both upperclassmen and freshmen. Located adjacent to the barbeque pits and sand volleyball court, IRT offers unique amenities such as a two-story lofted lobby area and a furnished sun deck. Heritage Park Towers is a suite-style residence hall for both freshmen and upperclassmen. All dorms have unlimited Ethernet Internet, cable TV hookups, laundry facilities, computer labs, study lounges, and multi-purpose rooms with large-screen TVs. Heritage Park Towers, Indian River Towers, and the University Village Apartments also offer a community kitchen.

The dorms at Florida Atlantic University are, by far, some of the nicest and most spacious around. All are very new in comparison to other universities and are in equal vicinity to key points of the University. Indian River Towers, although the oldest of the dorms, is the best pick because the rooms are larger and each suite includes its own furnished living room. Even the student apartments are a great option for upperclassmen because not only do they include their own kitchen, but they are also still within walking distance from campus.

New but in Need of Repairs

The housing is still fairly new but it is easy to see that what few repairs that were made, were made in a hurry and needed more attention.

Excellent for All

While all students are required to live in similar suites, this is to the benefit of freshman rather than the disadvantage of the upperclassmen. Both residence halls are fairly new, clean, and spacious. All suites consist of a common/living room, two restrooms and four single bedrooms. The RSA club is also amazing, hosting wonderful programs throughout the year.

Campus Living, the Good and Bad

Living on campus seems like it is a really great opportunity, because you can meet people that you can identify yourself with. People with the same objectives and goals of graduating with a particular degree. Another advantage to campus living, is that the presence of all the campus life is very apparent. It is very convenient to live on campus because students are able to go to SI sessions when they need help with classes, or form study groups in an easier fashion, opposed to trying to schedule study sessions off campus with students that live in different neighborhoods, or cities. The overall atmosphere, is very positive. At night it can get really dark, so just to be safe always walk with a friend. If anything were to happen that puts your life or another life in danger there are emergency phones located around campus that will alert campus authorities immediately. There is even a student based night watching group called "Night Owls," for students that are interested in providing safety services to others. The dining is very affordable on campus, especially if the students have the meal plan, which most of the students living on campus have.

All in all, If you are a college student or high school graduate looking for a great University, that is not very expensive in tuition, and a great atmosphere filled with positive thinking individuals, then FAU is surely the place for you!
