Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The campus is totally diverse in all aspects of the word. Many of the students are on full scholarships, while some don't worry about money for a second. During the 2008 presidential election, there was an equal amount of supporters on both sides. There is someone from every race, religion, and walk of life on campus, and there is a club, fraternity, or sorority for everyone, every opinion, and every issue.

Minority and international students make up more than 40 percent of the student body, and the University ranks nationally as one of the top schools in terms of diversity. FAU celebrates the cultures, customs, and heritage represented within the University community in a multitude of ways, from formal academic programs and lectures to clubs and social events.

Racial Diversity/ Sexual Orientation

The school is pretty mixed. Even though South Florida has a large hispanic population every race is pretty balanced although Asians tend to be the minority at my school. I haven't seen problems happen because of someone's sexual orientation, the school seems pretty accepting as a whole, no one caused trouble when a LGBT activist group tried to raise awareness and asked for donations.

Diversity in Retrospect to the Student Body

Florida Atlantic University has an extremely diverse student body ranging from differing race, religion, economical backgrounds, and sexual orientations. While strolling across campus, many students will see that FAU has different religious study groups as well as buildings that are dedicated to Christianity as well as Judaism. There are black societal organizations on campus, as well as hispanic to show the the different races that embody the University as a whole. FAU, hosts its own LGBTQ committee where students of various sexual preferences/orientation get together to form one solid community to help prevent the slandering remarks against people that identify themselves as gay, lesbian, transgendered etc. Of course, the students on campus are very accepting to all diverse social groups that are formed by the student body, and take action in many of the events hosted by these organizations.

Diversity at Florida Atlantic University:

There is diversity and that is a good thing! People get along and accept each other for who they are. I have never see any ethnic/racial problems and my cousin have been going here as well, so I am always on campus. People of all economic backgrounds are here as well. Political belief, religion, even sexual orientation is all well accepted here. People mind their own business and get involved in the activities they choose to.
