Guys & Girls:
Typical students are preppy, a lot of people don't look like thus try, but hey its college, not a fashion show.

Health & Safety:
We are very close to nature, basically have to walk through the woods to get to campus which can be a little unsettling but it is well lit. Public transport is avaialbe so you don't need to awl through that area at night if you don't feel comfortable. We have emergency telephones in close proximity of each other which can be used to call campus police. If you ever fee uncomfortable you are highly encouraged to use that service. I usually feel very safe, only time i feel a little uneasy is at night, but I haven't heard of anything bad happening.

There are plenty of labs and computers available in the library. This school is very big on turning in homework online. The network in freshman housing is very prone to crashing and being very slow. Very stressful, but they say their working on it.

Great shopping and dining near by. Absolutely no night life or area attractions. The local attitude towards students is positive. There is one college near-by, but I haven't met anybody that goes there.

We don't have a football team but after last years March Madness, Basketball has become an incredibly large part of this school. I'm part of our schools spirit club called "dirty birds" and get into every baseball game for free and have received free shirts, food, and other great perks. I have also attended hockey games, which is a club sport.

I did not receive any financial aid. This was a horrible experience and took a very long time to deal with. I live with my mom who is a substitute teacher making a very low salary, but still did not receive financial aid. I do have florida pre-paid so maybe that's why. They never gave me a reason, just said I didn't fit their criteria of need.
College Freshman 2013-12-10T00:49:13Z
Parking is free which is great. Students who live on campus can't park on campus until after 5 on weekdays which can be slightly inconvenient. I have received a parking ticket for parking in an area that looked like a valid spot. Sent in appeal and it was denied but they later put up a "No Parking" sign in that particular area.

I don't have a meal plan but student union has a variety of interesting options (chickfila, starbucks, jamba juice, subway, taco bell, organic pizza, einstein bagels, and blu sushi)
College Freshman 2013-12-10T00:45:15Z
Literally no parties, clubs, or nightlife. Most bars and clubs are 21 and up. We don't have frat houses so thats out of the question also.
College Freshman 2013-12-10T00:44:08Z
FGCU is very strict about underage drinking and drug use, especially on campus. This is a dry campus and I think its very difficult to obtain drugs or alcohol.
College Freshman 2013-12-10T00:42:39Z
Mostly sunny, but very humid at times. sometimes cloudy.
College Freshman 2013-12-10T00:41:50Z
So many great restaurants near by.
College Freshman 2013-12-10T00:39:19Z
I don't think FGCU is too strict or too lenient.
College Freshman 2013-12-07T00:02:04Z
Always warm and sunny! Sometimes, it's get a little too humid. Overall, it's one of the major reasons I chose this school!

Coming from someone out of state, trying to get financial aid is a nightmare. I graduated high school with a near perfect GPA and pages of extracurricular activities and I got nothing. The office is also very difficult to work with.
College Freshman 2013-11-30T22:28:47Z
The Fort Myers area as a whole is pretty small with not too much to do, but the school is about 30 minutes away from beautiful beaches, and 2hrs from Naples, and Fort Lauderdale. Also many students go the the attractions in Orlando on the weekends (which is about 3 hrs away).
College Freshman 2013-11-30T22:25:32Z
Guys & Girls:
The school is pretty diverse so there really isn't a way to generalize all the students. You will meet someone from every walk of life.
College Freshman 2013-11-30T22:22:55Z
I am a freshman living in the freshmen dorms (south village), and they are definitely some of the best in the nation. It is "resort style" dorms including a pool, and many amenities such as a small movie theater, video game rooms, free massage chairs and more. While in all the dorms you get your own bedroom, I live in Osprey (with two roommates) where you also get a small living room, kitchenette, vanity area, and large bathroom. There are also full kitchens on two floors. The downside is the cost of living in the dorms is about twice of that of living in your own house off campus, and it is a 15 min bike ride/ 20-30 min walk to main campus.

I am personally involved in Greek life and I love it. Although there are no houses, it makes the dues much less expensive. Greeks are the most connected people on campus, and I can't imagine my college experience without going Greek.
College Freshman 2013-11-30T22:16:10Z
Although there is no cost to park on campus, it is extremely difficult to find a spot in the parking garages. The garages are also very dangerous, cars are constantly whipping around the tight corners.
College Freshman 2013-11-30T22:14:07Z
FGCU has many students from around the world and diversity is VERY accepted. More than a few times a month there are religious/cultural events held on campus allowing students to learn more about the different cultures of the students that attend
College Freshman 2013-11-30T22:12:01Z
The school offers shuttles to Gulf Coast Town Center on the weekends, but otherwise there is no transportation provided by the school (even to the nearby airport).
College Freshman 2013-11-30T22:10:08Z
With Gulf Coast Town Center so close, there are many options. Some offer student discounts, but most are pretty costly.
College Freshman 2013-11-30T22:08:22Z
I'm absolutely in love with the school and campus life. The campus is gorgeous, most professors are great, and there is always something to do. I also went Greek and I love every minute of it.
College Freshman 2013-11-30T22:07:13Z
It is quite hard to get away with doing drugs on campus, and there is no leniency in regards to the punishment after getting caught.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
