Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

When asked about the academics at Florida Gulf Coast University, most students feel that they are getting a great education. FGCU is a growing university and is only changing for the better. Professors are willing to go above and beyond to help students succeed. Many students are satisfied with their majors and the courses for their majors. Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming, with the amount of work you have to do, but it's all worth it in the end.

The University is a young school, having only been founded in 1991. Most universities in the state of Florida are 100 years old. For a school to be this young and still have prestige is highly impressive. There are many degree programs and many colleges within the school, but somehow for being so diverse, the University still has a homey-feel about it. The professors are very willing to help in any possible way they can, and they are also very understanding if you have a problem with something and need help. The students are also very willing to help each other. They all realize that finishing a class means accomplishing a goal, and because of that, they help one another.

Federal Probation Office Internship

Being part of the internship process at FGCU was great. They really assisted me in finding an internship program that matched my major and worked with my schedule. The Internship at the Federal Probation Office was an experience all on its own. I learned a great deal about the Federal Government, got a feel for real job situations and met amazing intellectual people who were willing to share their knowledge. FGCU truly helped me in integratting into the work life.

Online Courses

For freshmen, certain classes are only online. The University also offers online courses and degree programs. The best advice is not to get behind with online classes; make note that folders open and close on certain days. Sometimes, you only have so long to finish an assignment.
