Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The diversity on campus ranges, but mostly, FGCU is not a melting pot. But despite the University not being the most diverse school, the people who do come from minorities and unique backgrounds are very well-accepted.

At FGCU, everyone gets along with each other. While boys will roughhouse, it's uncommon for a fight to break out on campus. Also, for diversity, there is a range of different interests that have common ground on campus. There are many sports, clubs, organizations, and volunteer work opportunities for students to immerse themselves in. All in all, the campus is pretty well rounded for not being a "diverse" school.

Pretty Equal

Our school pretty much has it all. We may have mostly whites but that doesn't stop other races from making their presence known. We are also very tolerant of sexual orientation, religion and political beliefs. So far I haven't seen any real problems in that department

Can Use Some Work, but It Will Get There One Day.

The campus diversity is not that diverse. The school is predominately white. As a student of a different ethnic background than the majority on campus, I can say that I have encountered those who were pretty prejudice. I won't say racist but, some do discriminate and follow stereotypes. So acceptance is not really favored in that category. Sexual orientation is pretty accepted here on campus, they have the pride days and awareness. When the school does have campus functions, people tend to come together more than on their own. These are my observations.

Increased Tuition

I think it is very unfair that tuition prices sky rocket at FGCU every year. For what purpose may you ask? Its for making FGCU a green school, but when it comes down to it we are wasting the money charged on non-green ideas.
