Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Many FGCU students like the University, for the most part. Involvement in activities is often key. Getting involved in organizations like intramural sports and attending campus events are two great ways to make friends on campus. You come to the school not knowing anyone, but it's up to you to make that change. However, one drawback that students note is that some FGCU students still act like they are in high school, having their own little groups and cliques. Either way, it's good to remember that your college experience is up to you. Other students will tell you that they couldn't imagine themselves anywhere else!

Although Florida Gulf Coast University is often considered a very small school with not much going on, many learn to love the tight-knit homeyness of it. Fort Myers may not be a vast metropolis with a lot to do, but there is still plenty to get involved with on campus; plus, Fort Myers does have a variety of places to eat at. Overall, the campus is clean, and for a young school, is growing every day. FGCU is a great school for any freshman to start at or for any transfer student to transfer to.

Experience

FGCU is my home away from home. I love the campus layout and all of the people here. The scenery is gorgeous, and I actually enjoy going to school.

Florida Gulf Coast University Ups and Downs

Florida Gulf Coast University is a wonderful school set in a very beautiful area. There is a very natural feel to the school because it is found on a preserve. The school does what it can to conserve energy and protect the environment. I would choose this university again because of the location. There are also many free activities for students, such as wake boarding, water skiing, Olympic size pool, and ping-pong. There are also many on-campus activities going on held by the different clubs and organizations on campus. One of the downsides about campus is how spread out it is. Main campus is tight, the classroom buildings, library, and student union are all near each other. The arts buildings, freshman dorms, a cafeteria, and campus police are somewhat far from the main part of campus. Upperclassman housing is closer to the campus than freshman dorms. Class sizes are small on average. Some courses have larger classes.

Love It

I love FGCU. It's a great campus to grow at and grows with you. Anything you want from FGCU if they don't offer it then you could probably figure out a way to create the option for it there.
