Depends on Your Crowd

Although the Greeks do throw parties and fundraisers on campus, FIU is a commuter university so it depends on who you hang out with and how much time you spend on campus. If you know Greeks and stay around campus then you might go to a party or fundraiser. Greeks aren't really a big deal at FIU.

Greek Life Is Active

I recently joined a fraternity here at FIU and from what I have seen Greek Life is very active. They're not just about partying, they actively participate on campus, hosting events within the Greek Community that many non-Greeks can participate in as well to see if they're interested in rushing. Many of the Greeks I have had the opportunity of associating with are very nice, friendly people. There's no pressure to join and they do not act as if they are better than anyone. I think Greek Life at FIU is very active and definitely an experience in itself. I definitely recommend incoming freshmen to hit up some events and talk to the Sororities and Fraternities on campus just to see.
