Did Not Receive What I Expected

When I looked at my award summary, I expected to receive much more financial aid. After the money was disbursed, my refund check was cut in half, so I had to rearrange my spending.

More Knowledgeable

My first visit to the financial aid office was a simple transaction of bringing the initial form for residency status. However, when i was contacted to bring in additional documents the staff member who helped me was not sure if i was cleared to register for classes. My 3rd visit was a complete different experience for the clerk who helped me was really knowledgeable and walked me through the process. I look forward to speak to this woman at any of my visit to the Finacial Aid office.

Financial Aid

I have never had any problems with financial aid. However, my other friends have. As long as you apply on time for FAFSA you should be ok. Unfortunately, out-of-state tuition, international students, and those who are not low income get the bottom of the barrel with FIU. Things can get hectic in the Financial Aid office being that the front of the office is smaller than my dorm! They take a while to disperse your aid, but your refunds do come extremely fast. Keeping track online and making in-person appointments help a great deal.
