Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Florida Southern College distinguishes itself from other schools because classes are taught only by professors, not by grad students. Most of the teachers have their PHDs, so they are very passionate about their subjects and often willing to meet after class with students who have questions or comments. Most professors know students by their names and notice when they are absent. Workload depends on the teacher, but usually coursework isn't anything outrageous.

Advisers are very good at making sure students graduate on time, with knowledge about courses and the requirements for graduation. There are certain times you can sign up for classes, based on how many credit hours you have. It can be tough to get into the classes you want, but eventually you will get them. Just be patient. Generally, advisers have a small number of advisees, so they are able to give individual attention to each student. However, there are some advisers who are very popular within their department, so they have a bunch of advisees.

Professors Are Great

We have amazing professors that are really helpful and remember you (with small class sizes). The workload is not to bad. My only complaint is that I feel like they dumb down the classes and focus more on extra curriculars than academics.

A Beautiful Place to Live and Learn

I applied to Florida Southern for the quality of education I knew I could receive, but the reason I decided to attend was the minute I stepped on campus I fell in love with the beauty of the landscape. It really is a haven. Not to mention the incredible professors, all willing to help with any problem you may encounter, especially as a freshman. They sold it to me as being a place that many people found to be a "perfect fit", and for me it absolutely is.
