Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The dorms are clean, and most of the rooms are spacious. The amount of free space in a room depends on the layout of the furniture. Students have the option of bunking beds, which some students do, especially in rooms with more than two people. There is a cleaning staff that cleans each day, so the dorms are well maintained. Some halls are known to be better than others.

Nicholas and Wesley are the newest dorms, so they are the freshest. Spivey and Joseph-Reynolds are in the center of campus, so they are close to every building. All of the other dorms are clumped on one side of campus, so some classes can be a longer distance to walk. However, because of the size of the campus, it is not an uncomfortable distance. Overall, all of the halls are different, so there are varying levels of closeness. Some halls have students that leave their doors open to their neighbors all of the time, while other students barely know the students next door. Most group socializing within the dorms takes place in the lobbies. Some meetings are held here, or even just groups of friends watching TV together.

Amazing

the girl dorms are clean. Security isn't an issue. Neither is noise level. The matching system for roommates is better than most.

Not Very Efficient

The newer dorms are really nice and have a great view of the lake, nice beds, and a cool lounge area. I am going to be living in the apartments next semester and they seem pretty nice. A lot of people have trouble getting the place they want or problems with their roomates, and sometimes people do not know where they are going to live until a couple of days before. The older buildings are also not very nice.

Freshman Get Shafted

The freshman housing options are much more on the meeker side when it comes to space and availability. While they are liveable the girls rooms do have quite a hand up in the space department. The other dorms on campus are much bigger and more accessible to things on campus, with the freshman boys and girls dorms being so far away from each other and not having wifi throughtout its facilities the freshman tend to get the short end of the stick on this one.
