Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Campus strictness decreases throughout the year. In the beginning of the fall semester, the staff and RAs make sure students know all of the rules and follow them diligently. The opposite gender has to check in with an RA. Basically, the RAs want to make sure that students understand what they can and cannot do. As the year progresses, strictness goes down. Rules are still enforced, but by this time, students know the rules, so it is somewhat based on an honor system. The strictness of RAs depends on the RA. Some are extremely strict and will follow all the rules. Others are more lenient, but will not let anything get out of control.

Alcohol is prohibited on campus, but students still drink. The only way students get caught for drinking is if they run into security or they get too rowdy. There are not too many room checks. Going to class is completely the student's choice. However, because class sizes are so small, professors know if you are not in class. Some professors are very strict about not showing up to class and will drop a student if a certain number of classes are missed. Other professors are more lenient about attendance; however, they do not show any sympathy if absences affect grades. The police are rarely present on campus. Campus safety controls all of the security. They ride around on golf carts to monitor the campus and give rides to people to and from buildings. There are many security officers on campus, so they are most likely willing to help out. However, if calling the office to ask for a ride, be prepared to wait for a while because the security officer has to stop his or her rounds to come get you.

Visitation Policies

Only people of the same gender are allowed to spend the night in a room. The guest must be 17 years old and cannot stay more than three consecutive nights. Otherwise, the opposite gender must leave by 1 a.m. These rules are not liked by most students. However, the rules make getting ready in the morning easier, without the worry of running into the opposite gender.
