Diversity is present in the form of personalities, but not in culture. Students are mostly Caucasian with some sort of Christian background. The school is Methodist affiliated, but there are other religious groups present, as well. The main reason why there is not that much diversity is not because diversity is not promoted, but rather that there are not enough groups to encourage growth in this area. The multicultural club is an organization that allows people who are interested in other cultures to come together. However, they do not create much awareness.
Because Florida Southern is a private college, tuition is more expensive than public or community colleges. As such, the economic statuses of the students differ. There are those students that are well-to-do, then there are some that require financial aid. This does not create a gap among the students, though. The two different economic statuses of the students are swept aside by the fact that everyone is attending the same college to receive a higher education. Students are very tolerant of people, thoughts, and ideas that are different from their own. In this way, Florida Southern doesn't create cliques. Everyone is accepted. This could be because of the small size of the student body.
