Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Drugs are a lot less popular on campus than drinking. This doesn't mean drugs don't exist on campus, but they are not too visible. However, students talking about drinking are very noticeable on campus, even if the actual drinking itself is not as noticeable. On the weekends or on a Thursday night, some intoxication may be seen, but overall the campus does not have very many alcohol or drug problems.

The pressure to drink alcohol or use drugs is not present, for the most part, but that also depends on the group of friends a student hangs out with. Some groups of students are known for drinking, whereas others are known for abstaining. A student won't be ostracized for choosing not to drink or use drugs because there are always students who don't participate in those activities. If caught with alcohol or drugs, the student will be penalized on a case-by-case basis. Some penalties include removal from clubs/committees, fines, and expulsion. The school is quick to penalize and does not look away when an issue is brought up. The biggest problem is students trying to hide alcohol in their rooms. An RA does not have the power to search a fridge randomly, but if he or she is given reasonable proof alcohol is present, he or she has the authority to search the fridge.

Alcohol Is Big

Plenty of people drink at least half of the week. Most of the frat boys use chewing tobacco but you definitely do not have to. Pot is a big thing too.

Alcohol

The drug scene at Florida Southern is not really big, some people go out but a lot don't. It's a dry campus so your not suppose to drink on campus.... it happens, just don't be stupid about it.
