Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Campus is very safe all over. The small size makes Campus Safety's job easier because they are able to patrol the grounds quickly and efficiently. The only area that is somewhat more unsafe than the rest of campus is the group of buildings across the street from the main campus area (nursing, communication, and humanities buildings). When it comes to this area, students are advised to get a ride home from Campus Safety after the sun goes down.

Students generally feel safe walking around at night because the campus is so small; anywhere a student needs to go is never very far. As such, walking at night is not as dangerous. Plus, all the areas are lit brightly, so the chances of someone sneaking up to surprise someone else are very slim. Campus police are very visible and known by most students. They are always driving around in golf carts, giving rides to students, and patrolling the area. If anything were to happen to a student, a safety officer would undoubtedly be there right away. In terms of health safety, the student health center is not as reliable. While the hours of the center are reasonable, the advanced registered nurse practitioner is not present during the same hours of the facility, only there about half the time with appointments necessary. Other than that, everyone in the health center is very nice and willing to help out in any way.

It Is Lakeland, People

Lakeland seems pretty safe to me, in general, but there has been some dangerous incidents, involving firearms around our school (not on campus). Freshmen and females (guys too if they want them) have "secuirty escort" buttons to call the safety officers who could not save you on their golf carts. The school is well-lit though, and they are always driving around.

Campus Safety

The campus is very safe and secure. You feel comfortable at all times. Security makes numerous rounds around campus every certain amount of time every night. Obviously, keep your doors locked to prevent petty theft and pranks.

Personal Safety

Whenever I step on the campus, I always feel safe and right where I belong, although I do feel at home... anyone can just walk on the campus with a weapon. That's where I feel a little unsafe because you never know who could be walking around. Other then that, everything is wonderful, beautiful, and the people at the school are so welcoming.
