Quick Stats

School Slang
  • Caf: Its formal name is Wynee's Bistro. This is the largest place for food, with buffet-style dining.
  • Underbelly: The formal name is the Under CafĂ©. This is a place to get quick food, such as hamburgers, wraps, and Freshens. It is located next to the bookstore.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School What a roommate is really like. Before the semester begins, you will be told who your roommate is and provided contact information. It is very helpful to break the ice before meeting your roommate in person, so send them an e-mail or add them on Facebook.
Tips to Succeed
  • Get involved! It is the easiest way to have fun, find new interests, and ease any homesickness.
  • Go to class. The weather may be beautiful or an extra hour of sleep may sound nice, but your professors will quickly notice when you are not in class.
  • Study! Most professors don't give much homework, so take 10 minutes to look over your notes or book each day. Tests are a big part of your grade.

Greek Life

Florida Southern's greek life is kinda weak. It's not like how it is a big schools, they don't go all out. They don't even have houses.

FSC Is a Family

My favorite part of Florida Southern is part of what sets it apart from most other schools. FSC has an atmosphere about it that is unmatched by any other school, it feels like a family. Being such a small school, everyone is quite friendly and you see the same people wandering around campus and in classes. The personal connection one is able to get in the classroom makes it easy to get to know your professors which is extremely beneficial in the later years when you need letters of recommendation, or are even just looking for an internship, or job. On a regular basis, if the students ask, or if a professor or advisor thinks a student needs one, life talks are given to figure out what the student should do for the next few years in college, or what they should do in graduate school. As a freshman I have already had two life talks about which classes I should take and when, so I am able to plan out the next three years of my life, and figure out what I want to do next.

Small Community Feel

My school is small which is nice when you want to go to a school where you know many of the people and recognize a majority of them. It has that small community feel, which I like alot. There are some fun events they host at the school and if you go out there and meet people, you will end up having a blast and fall in love with a small, great school.
