Timing Is Everything – Finding off-campus housing in Tallahassee that is affordable and safe can be challenging, but it is possible if done early in the year. Most places are reasonable close to campus and it is fairly easy to find a price that is right. Safety depends on the area and the type of housing a student choses.

Where to Live – Living on campus is a very appealing thing to do. It makes life a lot easier when you are trying to get to class on time. Also, by living on campus you have all of FSU at your fingertips. A student is able to walk anywhere they want, and they do now have to worry about parking really ever. By living on campus, you also meet a lot of people, people that live in your hall and other people that may live in your friends halls as well.

Work, Play, and Study – As a student at Florida State University, regardless of what you are looking to do at that moment in time, you will always find yourself in the nicest of facilites. The gym at FSU is a three story facility with every type of machine imagineable. The building itself is relatively new, and is still in very good condition. Strozier library is also another place that many students may find themselves. The library offers many amenities and 5 floors of study areas. the first floor of the library was recently refurbished, and now has a 24 hour starbucks, tons a of smart rooms, a vast amount of computers and personal help desks all only on the first floor. The general appeal of FSU is topped of with the way that the campus looks. There are benches, over hanging trees, brickwork, garnet and gold flowers and many more that adds to the pleasing aesthetics offered at Florida State University.

What Tallahassee Has to Offer – Tallahassee has a variety of different things that it offers to the students that decide to attend Florida State University. Besides being a college town, it is also the capitol, and there are many opputunities for students to learn more about politics. Also, there are so many parts of Tallahassee that the naked eye may not see. From Thomasville, to Lake Ella, and even including the Florida State University's own reservation, nature is just on the outskirts of campus. With all that Tallahassee has to offer, I wouldnt have picked anywhere else to attend college.

Walking in Best on-Campus Option – Even though FSU is a large school, the campus is very compact. There are buses lines, but classes are very easy to walk to and the campus is beautiful so walking is enjoyable. Parking is the most difficult aspect of transportation on campus.

There is a huge amount of students involved in Greek Life but also a lot of non-Greeks. Non-greeks may not be going to frat-parties on a regular basis but there is still a very prominent non-Greek social scene.

Very Diverse Campus – There is a lot of diversity at FSU, which is a great advantage of the school. You see people from all over on a daily basis, and students and professors are very accepting and embrace the diversity!

Spring semester brings the most beautiful weather-warm sunshine with a cool breeze! It does get very hot leading into summer but it's not unbearable, especially if you're used to Florida summers. Winter gets pretty cold but doesn't snow usually or go into the negative degrees.

Go Noles! FSU sports are a huge deal! The games are such a fun way to feel like you're really a part of the school and show your team spirit!

Lots of Scholarship Opportunity – I received a good amount of financial aid with little work being put in.

Great Options – There are tons of apartment complexes right on the border of campus. Very reasonable rent prices for surprisingly nice apartments.

More Healthy Options Please! There aren't a ton of healthy options in the student union, but there are a few Starbucks on campus which is great.

Parking on campus can be very hectic. If you have odd class times then you will probably easily find parking, but if it is during the busy times it can be very frustrating and you have to park off campus on side streets and walk to campus.

My overall experience at FSU has been amazing. I have a bright lively room with all the amenities I need. My classes are all within a 5 to 10 minute walk from my room. I can walk literally anywhere I need to go. The campus is absolutely beautiful with trees, fountains, and numerous statues. Football games are intense and so much fun. The faculty is really focused on the student and I really feel like the university wants me to graduate and do it on my own time, which in my case is as soon as possible.

Guys & Girls:
There's Alot of Girls and Not Alot of Guys – Our campus is pretty much dominated with Greek Life. The guy to girl ratio is 40:60. What guys are here are generally either homosexual, involved with fraternities, or super dedicated to their majors, usually either science or music. The girls are also usually involved in a sorority or fraternity of some type. It is a very feminine campus with lots of flowery dresses during spring time and chic outfits during the winter.

The Advisors Are Excellent – I'm attending school at the Florida State University and so far my education has been successful. I am an Education major and the advisors are very personal, informative and proactive in my academic plan. My own advisor is helping me to explore all the education options possible before I apply to the specific college within the university. I've had some complications with my classes and my advisor has been willing to really reach out and bend over backwards to make sure I make it into the programs I want, which are extremely competitive. I've visited my advisor office twice in the past two months and he remembers me and my specific situation personally and shows a genuine interest in working with me to ensure I have the best educational experience possible. All the advisors are very informative and willing to take time out to help any student, whether it be sending an email on a student's behalf to an administrator, mapping out a detailed academic plan without pressuring students to take certain classes, or just answering any questions or relieving any anxieties any student may have.

I fell in love with Florida State athletics. There are so many traditions, and football season is a huge part of the Seminole lifestyle.

Health & Safety:
Be Aware – There are occasional alerts sent out to students about armed robberies on or near campus. During the day, I feel totally safe anywhere on campus, but at night, just stay with a group and know who and what is around you.

College Town – Tallahassee has a lot more to offer than most college students think, but you have to leave the general vicinity of campus. There are many beautiful parks and outdoor activities. The area around campus is not as nice as other parts of town, but there are plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs beloved by students.

Great Difference Between Good and Bad Dorms – There is a great difference between the "good" dorms and the "bad" dorms. Living on the one side of campus ("good" dorms)has a lot more accessibility to food and activities. These dorms are also more expensive.

Not a Problem – A good rule of thumb to follow is: If you feel like you're doing something that could get you in trouble- stop doing it. If you follow this advice, you will be safe in most cases.
As far as academics go, if you're here, is should be because you want to work hard and succeed. The professors are here to teach you, and they have your best interests in mind. With that said, if you are struggling in a class, seek help in your professor's office hours, or find help from one of the free tutoring services on campus. A good work ethic will almost always get you back on track.

Greeks Misunderstood by Non-Greeks – Greeks are very stereotyped at Florida State. I know many Greeks who are perfectly nice and down to earth people, but group of Greeks have created stereotypes for the different sororities and fraternities on campus.

As long as it isn't during midterms or finals, you can almost always find a place to study in the libraries. There is also wifi throughout the campus, so some outdoor area are always available to study at.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
