Parking is not great, but there are spaces available if you are willing to search long enough

FSU has 5 libraries, gyms and full scale rec centers to keep any physically active person busy for a long time. There are open green areas to play sports or read a book underneath many of the shady trees that have been there for generations. FSU also has a great student union that has many things to offer students such as a video game parlor and a full scale movie theater that is completely free.

Health & Safety:
Campus police are strict on drug use, but when it comes to alcohol, they are more concerned with student safety than doling out punishment. I've heard of students who have been caught drunk outdoors at night getting rides home from policemen. There's plenty of public and safe transportation at night for students who have been drinking. While I always keep my pepper spray on me and limit my outdoor activity at night to walking back to my dorm from the library, I feel pretty safe on campus. I receive campus alerts through text on my phone, and in a year of living on campus, there was one alert about an attempted mugging and another about an attempted assault. The rest were weather warnings.

It's usually only very large parties that attract police. In those cases they only arrest visibly drunk minors. When they discover drunk students out at night, its usually the student safety that they are most concerned about. Underage or not, lone groups of students caught drinking are usually let off with a warning and often given a ride home. Campus police are much tougher on drug use and possession, both of which usually result in arrest. All in all, you have to be discreet about alcohol use, but campus police have always made me feel safe rather than anxious.

Only certain parking garages on campus allow week-long student parking for students who live on campus. All the garages are free but on weekends or game days some garages will tow student cars as they are reserved for visitors. The earlier in the day it is the easier it is to find a spot. It's best to arrive on campus an hour before your class if you want to find a spot and still be on time.

There are many apartments but they vary in distance, quality, and cost. The best apartments is Campus Circle but it is expensive - around $680 a month not including electricity, but it comes with cable, internet, a dishwasher/ dryer, and a huge tv. There are 4 other apartment complexes that are cheaper but have certain issues in there respective neighborhoods. Having a car and a job nullify these issues.

Everything has been pretty fair. Protest are allowed and your individual rights aren't suppressed by Campus PD. People do get away with the occasional drink, but overall most things happen off campus so there isn't really an issue on campus.

Nightlife is for most student with exception of some clubs that are 21 or older. There is something to do for everyone at Florida State that does not always have to involve drinking.

There are people of every race, religion, and sexual orientation at FSU which makes it very diverse. FSU is very strong on the idea of respect and respecting diversity which gives it a good reputation.

I received an average amount of financial aid from Florida State that was easy to achieve. I did not have to out in much effort besides the necessary requirements to receive the aid. I suggest searching for more scholarships within Florida State and speak to people in the Financial Aid department to help get everything you earned.

Florida State is definitely a walking campus!! While the parking garages are convenient with the number of available spots on a board outside, they all fill up fast!!

The food is at sometimes plentiful, but restricted in choice and in health. The new vegetarian section is much appreciated. There are always awkward transition periods of barley any food though between meals.

The football games are the coolest, I don't think any school has more spirit than Florida State!

Tallahasse has it's perks but the only fun things are the clubs and fraternity/sorority houses. I have yet to find something besides the arcade and mall that motivates me to go out of town. There are a few restaurants but nothing else.

Florida State University is a great school! All the professor's are very knowledgeable and easy to talk too, the community is relaxing and there is no worries of being left out. The school also hosts many events but I feel as if they could host some events more towards the interest of minorities such as middle eastern or Hispanic people.

Although it is most common for students at Florida State to drink during the week and on weekends, there is drug use. The severity of drug use depends on who you hang out with. Peer pressure is not an issue, people won't treat you differently if you do or do not use. Drug use usually happens behind closed doors or in the bathrooms at clubs.

Guys & Girls:
Florida State University is not only known for being extremely diverse, but also for have exceptionally good looking students. There is a large greek life community but also many other clubs that you can pretty much find any type of person. There are always opportunities to meet someone that you might get along with wether they are country, preppy, rocker, athletic, indie, or raver at all the events that are held at FSU.

The university has parking garages as well as parking lots that are usually located by major dorms. While living in the dorm I didn't have much trouble with parking because there was a lot right next to where I lived. Now that I am living in an apartment it is much harder and I usually have to leave my apartment 30-40 minutes early to make sure I get a spot and get to class on time.
College Sophomore 2013-06-16T18:56:44Z
If you live in the dorm, RA's and Campus PD are very strict about underage drinking and drug use. If you come home after a night of going out and are loud and causing havoc, the RA's with get campus PD involved and you will be charged. You usually have to go to a meeting set up with the university and write a bunch of essays explaining what you did and why it was wrong. If you get caught in a situation like this, it goes on file with the university so it is best to be discreet with underage drinking and drug use.

Health & Safety:
I always feel safe at FSU. It's a beautiful and clean campus. There are multiple light posts where there are blue lights that will turn off if there is something dangerous going on. Also, you can press the call button and the FSU police will be at your service in less than a minuet.

There are lots of clubs and groups, everyone can find a niche
College Senior 2013-06-13T03:06:49Z
Worst options include Kellum and Smith, they are older dorms. Lots of fun things to do on campus that are free
