There are a bunch of great restaurants within walking distance of campus. For instance, Momo's is right off-campus on Tennessee and they make huge pizzas. Also, Voodoo Dog is a hot dog restaurant that puts a bunch of unique toppings, such as macaroni and cheese, on their dogs. There are also coffeeshops and chain restaurants, like Chipotle and McDonald's, that are close to campus as well.

Drinking is very popular at FSU, but harder drugs are much less talked about. I have heard a few people say that they use Adderall during finals week, but I don't feel that a majority of the students do that here. If you don't want to drink and/or do other drugs, there is little to no pressure by others do so; just know that drinking is a big part of the social life here.

The process for getting into my Psychology major was relatively simple. Nothing they asked for was too extravagant. You just need to make sure your g.p.a remains at a 2.8 or higher; and to complete all of the necessary coursework, including two labs and up to three semesters of a chosen foreign language along with the other recommended classes.

Psychology is a wonderful major program at Florida State University. It is a difficult workload, but not extremely overbearing. The professors are top notch and there are wonderful facilities to aid in your studies as well as great avenues to further your experiences.

Health & Safety:
We have an overall safe campus, there are times when mishaps will happen, but overall the police and security keep us well updated and safe.

I am attempting an internship this coming year. Find help through your school in order to find available internships as well as places in surrounding areas/online in your focus area to help you with your search.

To enter my program, I had to complete required courses and achieve a certain GPA. I experienced no difficulties getting into my program, and am very happy with my experience! The process for admission has recently changed, leaving many students unclear and unable to receive admission based on the requirements.

I enjoyed the workload in my program. I felt assignments were major specific and really worked to challenge and guide students in the major for success. The teaching staff were all incredibly helpful and really cared about students and their success. My program was located in the stadium of my university. It made going to classes interesting and helped me feel my school spirit!

The places to eat on campus consisted of dining halls and union restaurants. There were two main dining halls that were station style. Both of the dining halls offered much variety and catered to students of all dietary needs. The requirement for purchasing a meal plan was based off of where students live, some residence halls required students to purchase meal plans, while others did not. The on campus restaurants were good, but nothing unique. If more variety were to be added, students would have been happier. I personally enjoyed my experiences eating on campus. The food was always good, and staff were all pleasant. I recommend purchasing a meal plan for students who are in their first year at FSU.

I had an unpaid required internship. All students in my major were required to complete an internship in the final semester of the program. Internship was 512 hours, and an amazing experience. It gave me the opportunity to apply all that I have been learning and tested me to be as professional and knowledgeable as possible. I was at an agency for at risk youth that aimed at preventing girls from entering into the juvenile justice system. I was a counselor that worked with them on progressing and monitoring them through their goals.

I feel like the Greek students feel connected. However, non-Greek students see them as a cult who only care about themselves.

The weather is pretty good. In the Fall it is slightly cool and never too cold. In the Spring it gets pretty warm but never to hot that you sweat by just getting out of bed lol

The science program is great at FSU. All the teachers are very helpful. However, sometimes they are hard to understand because of accents or their awkwardness.

The academic aspect of FSU is very high. Obviously not the highest in the state, but it is very respected. Teachers are very helpful but some can be really snobby.

They have a good system that basis off of first come first serve. The dorms are well kept except for the older buildings, which are pretty gross.

At FSU, on-campus housing comes on a first-come, first-served basis. Typically, freshman are stuck in the bad dorms of Smith and Kellum. But there are a special group of kids that get to live in Landis, which is one of the best dorms on campus. It's clean and right across from Landis Green, a popular tanning spot. We also built a new dorm hall so there are more living options for students.
I strongly believe that Smith and Kellum should be demolished.

Health & Safety:
I think our FSUPD and our brand new Health and Wellness Center (new building that was recently built, and more resources and medical equipment) are amazing! HOWEVER, because FSU lies in an area of Tallahassee that is somewhat stricken by poverty, there do tend to be muggings once or twice a semester. I wouldn't walk alone in some parts of the campus at night, but there is the SAFE bus that you can call them and they will pick you up and take you home (as long as it's in a certain radius of campus).

Even though the majority of people at Florida State are Caucasian, I still feel as if the school is still very diverse. There are clubs and organizations that cater to every type of religion and ethnicity and no one really feels left out. I guess the diversity can be a bit better though.

Lots of student apartments are available throughout town, and usually there is one within any price range. They are usually well used but perfectly suited for a poor college kid. Sometimes parking can be rough, so always park in visitor spots or get a visitor badge if you are visiting friends. Or park in public parking lots like Winn Dixie or in street spots like me.

I see all kinds of nationalities, races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, and religions roaming the campus. Right now, in the cafeteria, I see 2 white boys, 1 white girl, 2 black girls, a black boy, and an indian boy.

Not a fantastic variety, but all students can go to most of the bars unless you're under 18.

I live in a great dorm, but there are a few on campus that you might not want to get stuck in. All except one are on campus and very convenient.

There are many interesting classes offered at FSU, and many great professors I have enjoyed learning from. The registration process changed this semester and some bugs are still being worked out, but I think in the future it will be easier to register.
College Sophomore 2013-04-17T03:18:41Z
I got lucky with the dorm I got placed in. It is suite style and very nice, but some of the community style dorms are a little run down and not as nice, but they aren't terrible.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
