They have a good system that basis off of first come first serve. The dorms are well kept except for the older buildings, which are pretty gross.

At FSU, on-campus housing comes on a first-come, first-served basis. Typically, freshman are stuck in the bad dorms of Smith and Kellum. But there are a special group of kids that get to live in Landis, which is one of the best dorms on campus. It's clean and right across from Landis Green, a popular tanning spot. We also built a new dorm hall so there are more living options for students.
I strongly believe that Smith and Kellum should be demolished.

Health & Safety:
I think our FSUPD and our brand new Health and Wellness Center (new building that was recently built, and more resources and medical equipment) are amazing! HOWEVER, because FSU lies in an area of Tallahassee that is somewhat stricken by poverty, there do tend to be muggings once or twice a semester. I wouldn't walk alone in some parts of the campus at night, but there is the SAFE bus that you can call them and they will pick you up and take you home (as long as it's in a certain radius of campus).

Even though the majority of people at Florida State are Caucasian, I still feel as if the school is still very diverse. There are clubs and organizations that cater to every type of religion and ethnicity and no one really feels left out. I guess the diversity can be a bit better though.

Lots of student apartments are available throughout town, and usually there is one within any price range. They are usually well used but perfectly suited for a poor college kid. Sometimes parking can be rough, so always park in visitor spots or get a visitor badge if you are visiting friends. Or park in public parking lots like Winn Dixie or in street spots like me.

I see all kinds of nationalities, races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, and religions roaming the campus. Right now, in the cafeteria, I see 2 white boys, 1 white girl, 2 black girls, a black boy, and an indian boy.

Not a fantastic variety, but all students can go to most of the bars unless you're under 18.

I live in a great dorm, but there are a few on campus that you might not want to get stuck in. All except one are on campus and very convenient.

There are many interesting classes offered at FSU, and many great professors I have enjoyed learning from. The registration process changed this semester and some bugs are still being worked out, but I think in the future it will be easier to register.

I got lucky with the dorm I got placed in. It is suite style and very nice, but some of the community style dorms are a little run down and not as nice, but they aren't terrible.

At any college the health rate would not be all that, although since Ive been a student I think that it is getting better.

Policy enforcement on Drug Safety at Florida State University is excellent. Through out my college years I never seen alcohol or usage while on campus.

Florida State has buses that can take you all around campus. In addition to the buses on campus all Florida State students ride the city buses for free as well.

As an accounting major, I am extremely content with what FSU has to offer and what my future looks like. The professors are supportive and go out of their way to help anyone in need.
My career goals include going to law school and working in corporate litigation. Going to law school always has its risks, but I am confident in my ability to find a job in my field.

If an individual needed to access FSU's transportaion, my advice would be to arrive at the bus stop early. Although the buses have a "set schedule", the bus drivers tend to take frequent 3-5 min breaks stopping the bus completely.
If an individual was driving their own vehicle, my biggest suggestion would be to leave your apartment or house at least 30 min before the class. The parking garages and lots tend to fill up rather quickly. However, SGA has created an application for iPhones and Androids that show how full each parking garage on campus is, which helps in gauging where you need to park instead of just driving around campus aimlessly.

Professors: FSU, just like any other university, has a large number of professors that range in professionalism and likeability. Although many university officials condemn the use of sites such as "Rate My Professor", these are honestly your greatest tool for choosing the right professor.
Curriculum: FSU has consistently challenged me since day one. The curriculum is up-to-date and student friendly.
Registration Process: Florida State just recently created a brand new registration process that makes registering for classes easier. It does take some time to navigate through the system, but it is much more useful than the former process.
Workload: The workload varies between degrees, but staying on top of work and studying is essential to passing classes.
Special Study Options: Most, if not all, of the classes offered at Florida State University have special study options that range from TA-led reviews and tutoring to organizations not affiliated with the university.

Guys & Girls:
There are a lot of social aspects that you have to take into consideration when you come to FSU, if you aren't out going you may have a hard time meeting new girls/guys but since Greek life is so huge there are tons of beautiful fun people waiting to be met. Although some can be stuck up or snotty, there really is every type of personality in both guy and girl here.

The food in Tallahassee is awesome! Lots of small local places with the best good and atmosphere. Lots of places close and even walking distance from campus. So many options in places and types of food that its always hard to decide on one place. Cost is about average, leaning to the cheaper side- perfect for the college kid budget.

It's very hot in the summer. Pretty cold for floridians in the winter. Never snows. Rains about 50% of the time, so your umbrella becomes part of your wardrobe.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
