FSU is a great school, but it does have its rules. As long as you try to abide by them, you will do just fine. They can be pretty lenient when it comes to some things.

I attend Florida State University, and I have definitely fallen in love with this school. It has such a great vibe about it. Friendly faces everywhere ready to help if you need anything. The teachers are great, and are very tentative if you are ever having any problems in their class. The workload is doable, as long as you take the time and plan out your schedule.

Most sororities have houses, some fraternities do not. Non-greeks and greeks both add to the social atmosphere positively. Non-greeks and greeks treat each other positively also.

I don't have a car and don't feel the need for one. The campus is small enough that I can walk anywhere and parking is a problem.

The process of getting into a program is fairly straightforward at FSU. You have to complete the perquisites for the major, which are presented on the school's website as well as your advisor's office, and then you apply for the major once you are nearing completion of the prerequisites.

I have not had an internship yet, but I am currently in the process of acquiring some for the summer. Even though I have just began the process, I feel fairly comfortable with what it is that I need to do apply for internship programs. The school has plenty of resources available to assist individuals in finding specific internships as well as ways to best acquire them. My main concern with finding an internship is whether it will legitimately be beneficial towards my future goals and the time commitment that I need to make as I also have a job.

Guys & Girls:
There is a huge variety of people at Florida State, which is wonderful. You get the chance to meet people everyday that come from all different walks of life that have aspirations spread across a massive spectrum. There are plenty of good-looking people here if that is something that you're wondering about. There are fitness buffs as well as very well dressed individuals with unique clothing style, and anything in between. The social life here is also very active, and it is sure to cater to a large variety of personal interests.

I received a considerable amount of financial aid, but I definitely feel as if I should have been offered more. The process of managing your financial aid is not extremely difficult, but it is not clear-cut either. I have lost count the amount of times I have been uncertain about what I need to complete or take care of and have had to consult the financial aid office, which itself can be difficult to do at times.

I am thankful for the Bright Futures and Florida pre-paid programs available to me. The process of getting your funding can be a little sticky though. In my case, I didn't want to receive my funds on an FSU Suntrust bank card, and instead got my own through my personal bank. This made getting my scholarship money a slower process (about 2-3 weeks into the semester) instead if right away. This made it difficult for grocery shopping and I had to call my mom for extra money a few times. It is beneficial that FSU is able to directly deposit my funding into my bank account. That is why I rated the scholarship process with a B+. Because they are so familiar with the Florida scholarships, I was able to receive all of my money every time.

Public relations is extremely competitive at Florida State, however, it is a very rewarding experience and it taught by the extremely talented Dr. Rayburn who speaks from experience. The program allows for students to explore communications while giving them room to double major, exploring other interests. For example, I wish to double major in public relations and sports management because I am interested in fitness related businesses.

Perhaps the worst thing about campus dining is the regularity of dining hall food in Suwannee and Fresh Food; simply, you'll probably get bored of dining hall food. Some of the meat is questionable, but some of the dishes are good but breakfast can be a bland affair. FSU gives out flexbucks in their meal plans, which allows people to eat on-campus at places like Subway, Einstein's Bagels, Chilli's, Salad Creations, and the food court. Denny's is also a very popular spot on campus. I wish there were more healthy choices in campus dining, but at least there is variety.

I plan to move off-campus next semester. I have heard positives from various places around campus, but where someone lives depends on the person's preferences (cost and location.)

I'm a sports fan, but this is still the school to go to find a large fan support and school spirit atmosphere.

Health & Safety:
The new Wellness Center is superb. It's clean, sleek and you will not have to wait long for an appointment. Making appointments is easy and this is a huge upgrade from the previous Thagard Wellness Center. I have never had any issues with safety on campus and I know that I can always call campus PD if there is any trouble or if I feel unsafe walking back to my dorm in the dark. There are also various sources of transportation for students out at night (whether on or off-campus) which makes the campus a safe environment most of the time.

Very large crowds and very big events especially around football. More than almost to a fault.

You don't need to have a computer, Its easy enough to find one even during crunch times. Good luck finding one you can play games or watch YouTube videos on though. If you have an ethernet cable the internet connection is fast and pretty reliable, but the WiFi cuts in and out a bit, depending on where you are.

Hard to find good spaces, because a lot of people leave their cars in the overnight lots, but there are usually open spots somewhere

The weather is phenomenal here, it is beautiful here pretty much all year around. The only slight exception would be during winter, it gets pretty cold and it has been cold and rainy lately, but it is rare to see this much rain this time of year. Other than that the winter has been beautiful, drop dead gorgeous out!!

All of the dorms are centralized on the campus, allowing for a sense of ease getting from the dorm to class.

I'm sure parking is difficult at all schools, but it's pretty hard to find a spot. I'd consider walking or riding a bike if possible.

Greek life is an amazing opportunity for networking and meeting new people. However, I've seen a lot of people get sucked into the lifestyle; partying, too concerned with looks, thinking non-greeks aren't good enough. If you can keep your head on your shoulders and are interested in meeting new people it's worth considering.

Health & Safety:
While not the safest area, the school takes our safety very seriously. With the safe bus, a bus that drives around campus at night so you don't need to walk, and emergency signals within eye sight of any place on campus, I do feel at peace.

FSU's campus is great! It is aesthetically beautiful and makes for an easy walk to class every day. There are new buildings and nice, clean facilities. Landis is great for killing time in the sun between class and there is always something fun and exciting going on!
College Sophomore 2013-02-04T15:52:28Z
I have not really seen any drugs on campus. I thought I smelled someone smoking pot once on campus, but that is it. Off campus is a different story. There will always be people who drink and smoke out of school.
College Sophomore 2013-02-04T15:47:17Z
There are many places on campus to find food. We have a food court that has Papa Johns, Pollo Tropical, a Sushi place, and Freshens. We also have a Chilis and a Subway in our Union. They are very delicious and not a far walk. The dining halls are pretty nice. They normally have almost the same everyday, but a couple menu items are different. Even if you want to go off campus for a meal, there are many places that are very easy to walk to.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
