FSU alerts is a very responsive and effective system; have yet to see a crime alert sent out without notification of an arrest within hours.

Student life is great. Our campus is utterly beautiful with a great mix of antique architecture, modern buildings, and nature. Our athletics is amongst the best, most complete and accomplished in the nation. And there are so many things on campus to keep you busy that you'll hardly every get bored. Between our circus, our movie theater (both of these IN campus), athletics, student life in the Union, and all the nature spots to hang out, FSU leaves you wanting more.

I myself have not wanted or required to take an internship so am not too sure, from first hand experience, the quality of it. However my fiance, and English Writing and Media Major was required to take an internship and she told me she loved it and that it was very easy to obtain. It required a bit of work and a kind-of-long-paper at the end, but it was worth it, according to her.

Here at Florida State University we have Garnet and Gold pride to the utmost max. There is a huge sense of community and everyone is extremely nice. Most of our sports (basketball, football volleyball, soccer, and baseball), men and women's, are amazingly entertaining and nationally ranked top ten. I love my Literature Major here at FSU because the faculty is just amazing and I've had many professors that have just blown me away with their insight.

There are multiple computer labs and libraries that provide computers to work on. Strozier Library is open 24 hours a day so that is very accessible. You are allowed to print in every lab except it costs 8 cents per page which is a little expensive in my opinion. You don't need a personal computer but I suggest one. Some dorms have wireless access but if not you need to bring your own ethernet cable.

There are multiple dining options to choose from for every type of person. I am a picky eater, myself, and there are still tons of options to choose from. The cost ranges but most of it is relatively cheap compared to how much it costs to eat in a dining hall located on campus. I suggest Zaxby's and Panda Express.

Everyone is diverse at Florida State University. Greek life is very popular here but I have also met some kids who are into the punk scene and others who are very studious and not interested in social life.

Health & Safety:
I don't think there is any sort of "safety issue" on FSU campus, but there have been times where I would be walking by myself from a concert and wouldn't see a single FSUPD officer/squad car, etc. FSU offers the SAFE Bus system where you can call them and they will pick you up and drop you off wherever you need to go. The only problem with that is, sometimes you can't reach them, or their mailbox will be full, etc. etc. I think no matter the safety rating for a college, people should take steps to ensure their safety, such as not going walking by yourself at 2a.m. down a dark alley when you've been drinking. We received daily FSU Crime Alerts through email and text about people who would do silly things like that, and then something bad would happen. Just be smart!

The freshman dorm that I lived in, Cawthon Hall, was newly renovated when I moved in and it was great. It always smelled clean, the janitorial staff was VERY friendly, and the climate control was just right. It's known as the "music" dorm, so, it was nice to be able to practice my Horn in my room or downstairs in the practice rooms. I highly recommend staying in this dorm, even though it is a bit expensive because you are required to have a meal plan to live there, it is WELL worth it!

All of the buildings have great continuity of red brick across the campus no matter what year they were built, however, some dormitories and buildings are a little outdated. There is always constant improvement of these buildings and when funds are raised new buildings are created that match the red brick of the rest of campus, but are very high tech and updated on the inside.

The entire campus decks out in Garnet and Gold for all our varsity sporting events, including most Women's Sports. Having continually been ranked in the among the top 10 in multiple sports throughout the year has increased the size of the fan population on campus and in the stadiums.

I'm not in a frat but those guys seem to have a good time and contribute positively to the university and the community so I can't complain about them.

My major program (sport management) is one of the best in the country. Some great faculty who will do anything to help you succeed in and out of the classroom.

Alot to do if you're into sports like I am. Leach is the best gym I have ever worked out in and I'm a lifting junkie.

Off campus housing is horrible. There are too many off campus housing options that cater to the frat scene and aren't many options for the students that go to the University to do well and want to focus more on their studies.
A lot of the apartments are not well taken care of as landlords don't care because they know they are going to fill vacancies easily as there is not enough room on campus for students.
The only plus side is there are some options that are actually cheaper than on campus housing which is what makes it so appealing to students.

It rains a lot in Tallahassee. You have to carry your umbrella with you everyday as you never know when or if it will rain and you can't rely on the weather forcast. Rainboots are a must and highly recommended. Other than the rain it's usually quite hot, but the humidity is not as intense.

There are all sorts of people on the FSU campus. On any given day you can see at least 10 different kinds cultural backgrounds, some more apparent than others. There are many foreign students, especially of Asian descent. Students choose to dress anywhere from pajamas and flip-flops, to a primped out romper and heels. Greek life can be quite irritating when you are an outsider looking in; sometimes those groups can be an awful ego boost for those who seek it.

The food around campus is really good, typical restaurants and just very on the go and fast service.

It all depends on who you hang out with. A lot of kids smoke weed and drink alcohol but if you decline, no one will judge you for it
Sorry, there are no reviews.
