Due to us being in the capital of florida we have alot of amenities that our provided of campus. The cost of living in tallahasse is very unexpensive and affordable.

School Great – I absolutely love this school it provides a great educational base structure. Also one of my favorite things about the school is the school pride from all the faculty and students.

Health & Safety:
Very Safe – In Florida State University the entire faculty does a great job in making us feel welcomed and safe. They have an excellent police station within the school, which provides many services for us students. For example we have an app on our phones that we create with the universities police station with all our health related issues or emergency contact just in case anything happens to the students they are able to pull up our record. Personally one of my favorite features of the security at the university but there is many more things they do as well to keep us safe around campus.

The transportation system is great however, sometimes taking the bus will make you late to your class due to the route system around campus.

The city of Tally is nice, but honestly nothing special. I love the old southern feel to it and everything but if you are looking for something to constantly do, then this isn't the right city for you. I personally don't mind the city because there is so much to offer on campus but some people are slightly bitter about it. Oh, and the restaurants around here are pretty good too...try Mr. Roboto's, its SO good!

FSU has been one of the best things that has happened in my life. I love the campus, the social atmosphere, the classes that are available, the teachers, the school spirit, i love everything about it. I don't necessarily love my dorm, Dorman, but it's community style so you honestly can't expect too much. Everyone here is really inviting and friendly. Greek life is popular but you don't have to be a part of it to have fun. You do have to make sacrifices sometimes with your social life but I mean, giving up a few parties for school is obviously more important. But yeah, overall FSU is a great school!

Greeks Are Popular but Not Necessary – Greek life is kinda a big deal right now, but its just the first week so all the girls are trying to show off their sororities. I think it's good to be involved, but not necessary for a fun time!

Has improved tremendously. From 2005 until now, parking services has added FOUR garages (going from two to six) and paved nearly every major lot on or near campus.
You'll still have to walk, but you can definitely *find* parking now at almost any time of day without circling/following people, if you know where to look.

Generally mediocre; some positive exceptions. Preface: I'm a fairly demanding non-traditional student. I wouldn't have chosen this school for reasons less pragmatic than finances.
For a large university, FSU is surprisingly interested in the opinions and well-being of undergraduate students. There's a relative abundance of undergraduate research opportunities.
Some instructors are very, very good. In my program, at least, I think the curriculum is at least good enough to compare against the upper echelon schools.
Large class sizes. Too many older (tenured) faculty who are neither interested in instruction nor cutting edge research.
State budget cuts and political incompetence are ravaging Florida's higher education system.
State budget cuts have resulted in the loss of a lot of faculty. The better (adjunct) instructors are overworked or exploited (forced into teaching dregs prereq classes across the board) and are leaving in droves. Too many faculty/instructors forced into teaching courses that they are not particularly well qualified to to run.
Acceptable, but only for the price. At a higher (closer to the national average) per-hour tuition charge, I'd rate it a C.

The professors really do care that you do well in your major. The workload is doable and the curriculum is challenging. I haven't gotten a chance to experience any internships or job opportunities regarding the IT major.

Mostly White – There are mostly white students but quite a few other raises as well and it seems like everyone gets a long.

FSU is one of only a few schools in the entire country that has, not only an on campus circus, but one that the students can be trained to participate in! And it's free to watch for students.

No Regrets – I decided to major in Japanese language and culture. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I don't have many concerns with finding a job with my major. Though, my main concern is that whatever career I do get, I want it to allow me to travel out of the country.
College Junior 2012-09-01T20:22:27Z
Simple Enough – If you already know what you want to major in, just declare it when you apply to the school. If you don't know, then you can declare an exploratory major and just announce your chosen major when ever you've decided. And you can always go back and change your major if you need to.

Was Easy. The financial aid officers are nice and organized. They are a busy department so be early with your information. The scholarships vary obviously.

The Intructors Are Great. I have taken classes were the instructor wasn't just a professor they were working in their field of study. I had an instructor that was busy engineering disaster alert systems in places most effected by Hurricanes and other natural disasters.

They Are Good. I'm from a small town and grew up using dial-up so average computer and internet speed is good for me.

Dedends of on What You Spends – There is Po' Boys, Bella Bella, Kool Beanz cafe' if your looking for value and change ups Po' Boys is like a creole style place and is awesome. Bella Bella is more Italian themed and is well priced but not really for children as a large portion of their patrons are college students or older. Kool Beanz is a laid back but very trendy spot, great for different styles of foods and a killer selection of different beers. However, if your looking to spend more money than Shula's 347 Grill in Hotel Duval is your place. On the cheapest end of course the usual MickeyDs and Taco Hells that are always busy. Stick to the more upscale joints and the short waits are worth the experience and menus.

The meal plan was convenient freshman year when I lived on campus, but I would not recommend it for any upper classmen. The food is buffet style which encourages overeating, and it's not particularly healthy or tasty. There isn't much variety and the food gets monotonous.

Not Greek. I'm not involved in Greek life, but I have a few friends that are. There is an equal amount of things to do whether you are involved in a fraternity/sorority or not. It's just as easy to make friends at FSU without being involved.

Clean Cafeteria Food – I wish the cafeteria had more responsible healthy foods. Sometimes I find, that when I eat better I can focus better in class.

Drugs Are Everywhere – While on campus, drugs and alcohol aren't as noticeable, but you just have to step across the street to the Strip to find the parties. There are a lot of people with fake IDs so they drink illegally. I have been offered many times to smoke marijuana with people but had no interest. People don't really pressure you much though if you say no, which is good. It seems like the "cool" thing to do but a lot of people get caught. If you're caught with drugs and/or alcohol, especially on campus, it goes on your record.

Love the Program, Hard to Find a Job – I loved my family and child sciences undergrad. The classes interested me, I gained a good amount of knowledge, but the bachelors in itself isn't enough really to get me a job unless I just want to be a preschool teacher, so I had no choice but to go for my Masters, which I am getting in mental health counseling. With my Masters I don't worry so much about getting a job. My undergrad at least helped me in narrowing down what population I want to work with (children and families).
Sorry, there are no reviews.
