Delicious and Something for Everyone – There are two major campus dining halls that are similar but differ in menu choices every day and change three times a day-- the Suwannee Room and Fresh Foods. These buffet dining halls have hot meals and convenient grabs for everyone, including vegetarian alternatives and meat lovers' delight. The food is very student friendly, varying from comfort foods to the ever healthy salad choices. Students pay on entry either with their FSU cards and corresponding meal plans, or with cash options as well. Once a student is admitted they may stay all day, however if they leave, they must pay for reentry. The food tastes like a good home cooked meal and you won't regret it after a long day of classes! If you prefer other dining options, there are also various restaurants on campus such as Chili's, Starbucks, etc.

Now Do "The Chop" – Florida State is pretty amazing. The buildings are gorgeous, and the students are willing to help anyone at the drop of a hat. There's the smell of competition in the air with serious, passionate students but you never fail to hear the sounds of rocking fountain water after a night of letting off some steam. The insightful professors and the relationships you can build with them are priceless, not to mention the opportunities for undergraduate research are endless. Before I came here, I didn't realize just how appreciative I'd be that I turned down all the rest. Go 'Noles!

Buses, Buses, Buses Galore! The transportation is pretty good considering the campus is fairly compact and centralized. There is a bus service especially for FSU students called Seminole Express that takes the students around apartment complexes and off-campus housing-- free of charge. There is also another bus system called the Night Nole that allows for students to get picked up and dropped off on campus only at late hours of the night to ensure safety (it usually stops running at around 2AM). The StarMetro is another good example of a bus system that not only runs on campus, but all over Tallahassee as well. These systems are all in addition to the specific engineering buses taking students to specialized institutions of research. Again, all of these buses are free of charge to all students with their FSU cards.

The Perfect College Experience – The dorms are a lovely size with beautiful views, and plenty of resources. They have a full kitchen on every floor and allow you to bring in your own microwaves in your rooms. RAs are very welcoming and get creative with hallway wallspace every month. The FSU dorms allow for an awesome college experience before moving out to any apartments or off-campus housing. With 24/7 air conditioning and a pretty good size closet space, what more could you ask for?

The Perfect Discipline – There is definitely strictness here t FSU but it doesn't impede on my ability to have the right kind of fun!

A Beautiful City of Life – Here there are so many beautiful places, even a simple walk around campus is beautiful. The activities are always fun and there is always something to do.

Went Very Well for Me – This process was smooth and considerate and I appreciate all that I received

Pretty Decent but Some Days Disappointing – The dining hall Suwannee has really good options most days, but there are some days where I am disappointed by what I see.

They have loads of sports and work out programs, as well as martial arts classes. Also a great workout facility, equipped with all the latest equipment.

Decent Labs, but Not Much Support. Computer labs are abundant. Some even have mac computers for the design and art students which are also equipped with Photoshop and various other art programs. However, the support and help in these labs is not fantastic.

While the parking permit is free at FSU, parking is not a pleasant experience. I would advise arriving 10-20 minutes early on campus to look for parking.

Health & Safety:
Walking Alone – I never feel unsafe but of course walking alone at night makes me weary with the large amount of people on campus but that aren't out at night. Only a few muggings around and the school alerts you when something happens!

Love of the Environment – If you have a pssion for the environment, conservatin, biology, humanity, or procuring the safety of future generations then this program has the potential to shape your college career. I am a junior at the Florida stat university, majoring in environmental studies and I could not be more happy with my decision. The classes to choose from are interesting and intriguing, the professors actually care about you, and the opportunities to get involved are endless. FSU also offers a variety or extracurricular activities to connect you to students who share similar passions, as well as ways to get hands on experience with the topics you learn about inside the classroom.

Sustainable Tallahassee – As an environmental studies major, I am required to work with the school as well as the larger community in order to accomplish my goals. This can be done in a variety of ways; however, many students, such as myself, chose interning as an option. These positions can be paid and unpaid, and the hours demanded vary based on the job, the variety of responsibilities, and the individuals in play.

Florida weather but you're far north so the winters get pretty chilly.

Best Four Years of My Life. I would not trade my college experience for anything in the world. I'll always be proud to represent Florida State as an alumnus.

I just have the say the facilities seem very well kept, almost modern. And indeed, many of them are new construction! Buildings are spacious, and large - but, that is to accommodate the huge student population. I think the architecture is wonderful, and the surrounding parks make it a very relaxing environment to study. There is always something going on, and there are always people on campus.

Cool, Hot, Hot and Humid, FREEZING! Tallahassee is incredibly awful. Starting from the fall, everything is nice a temperate. Expect mid 70s to low 80s. Then all of a sudden things get REALLY cold. Expect winter temperatures to hit the twenties and thirties. Things warm up again around Easter. It then gets hot during the spring, and summer is just disgusting, with heat indexes in the low 100s.

Bring a Laptop – While there are numerous computing facilities and libraries around for students to use, they get crowded quick! FSU is a fairly large campus with a HUGE student population from all financial back grounds. They have wi-fi accessible anywhere, bring a laptop and don't worry about it.
College Senior 2012-07-26T22:10:58Z
Plenty of Opportunity – There are plenty of opportunities for internships at FSU. In fact, many majors require it. They have an entire team dedicated to helping pick the best internship and get selected. As some internships are mandatory, you won't have to worry about the competitive selection process. I will participate in an internship once I start graduate school; but, for now my major doesn't require it.

Not Many Options – In short, your options are really limited. We have a few night clubs in town, but nothing like you would find in larger cities like Orlando. However, the frats throw HUGE parties that are free, and have better music. The great thing about the frats is that you don't really have to worry about drinking and driving. Speaking of which, there is no need to drink and drive. FSU provides shuttle transportation with your overall cost of attendance. Additionally, city transportation is free for students. Lastly, if you find yourself out past the last bus, there is a free service available in which you can be picked up and delivered safely to your dorm or apartment.

Good and Bad – The gym and football stadium are great. Some areas of campus look bad.

The College of Human Sciences is pretty good here filled with a lot of knowledgeable and nice professors. Workload is kind of difficult if you balance it out with a job but generally it's okay.

Parking at FSU generally doesn't happen unless you know exactly what you're doing. You can't show up for your 9 AM class at 8:45 AM on your first day and expect it to be peachy keen - you'll be stuck paying for campus valet. I would suggest that you learn the lull times ensure you get a spot.

It Depends. Most students don't venture outside of the college area and they really miss out. Eating in student areas is sufficient but nothing more - eating in Midtown and beyond is where you'll find the gems.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
