Received Plenty of Money – After filling out the FAFSA, I ended up getting $5,000 over two semesters, which is pretty good considering it's just a nice simple application. When connecting these funds (and bright futures) to my account, we had to make multiple calls to FSU's financial aid service. Then we had to go on Blackboard and select "account refund setup" before they would disperse any funds.

Parking is Florida State's worst feature. There are not nearly enough spots. Atleast 20 cars get tickets in each parking lot across campus every day.

If you are a mess, campus is strict. They understand college students want to have a good time.

Greek life at Florida State is pretty big. There is a lot of pressure to join frats or sororities. They have a ton of parties and social events

Great Mix of Students – The diversity level is really good. There is a good mix of ethnicity and race. The political beliefs are more conservative and there are a lot of Gays.

Ok but Taste Not So Great – The dining hall facilities are very good. The flex dollars are helpful. Their is a good variety of food, but the taste is not so great. The best place to go is the Fig, but the hours for the fig are not very convenient.

I plan on applying for internships this summer. I want to work for the Buccaneers, while living at home for the summer. I plan on applying for the Public Relations Internship, but will apply for a different one if needed.

Capitol City – Tallahassee is the capitol of Florida, but I am not sure why. Yes, there are beautiful places around Tallahassee, including the FSU campus, but there are also places that are unsafe, dirty, and scary. Not even half a mile outside of campus, is a homeless shelter. Do not get me wrong, I think it is a great concept, but I think it is also an unsafe place to have so close to campus.
Some positive parts of Tallahassee are the festivals consistently held down town, all the great places to eat, and of course Lake Ella. In a small college town, sometimes students need a quiet place to escape the "real world" for a moment. Lake Ella is just that place. There are shops, an ice cream parlor, a cafe, and beautiful scenery.

I absolutely love my school. Florida State University has taught me all the necessary skills and tools that I need to excel in my career. This campus offers a wide array of opportunities for its students. If I could do it all over again, I would definitely choose Florida State University. GO NOLES!

The local weather in Tallahasee is very bipolar. So days its hot, some days its cold, other days it rains a lot. Because of this campus experience at times gets affected. If an outdoor event is planned, the rain can easily postpone the event.

Financial aid runs very smoothly at my school... Better than most, actually.

Guys & Girls:
Girl's Dress – Most girls have pretty much the same style. My type of guys are pretty scarce.

There are not nearly enough parking spaces for students who live on campus. It's a fight to ensure a spot to park.

Some of the fraternities and sororities do good for the school, but most of them are for partying or saying you're in one.

Football Season – There is never an empty seat in the stadium on game day. The student section overflows into the spectator's seats. The fans are overly enthusiastic and only focusing on the game.

Easily Obtained. I've heard many stories around campus about different drugs, such as marijuana, prescription drugs, etc. Although I do not hang out with these types of people, I have had a few run-ins with people who use these drugs regularly or have used them once before, and from what I have heard from them, drugs are not very hard to get to as long as you know a guy who knows another guy who sells them...

Just as the college campus is diverse, so is the greek life. There are sororities and fraternities for every race: Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, Asian, etc. They are all very sociable and for the most part get along with the students on campus. Most do community service around campus and some do more community service around the city. They are very influential around campus and definitely add to the nightlife around campus because they usually hold events and parties around campus to help keep students entertained (when they aren't studying of course).

Honors Program – I had to petition, but I still made it in. Honors programs at FSU is awesome, basically provides everything that it outlines in the beginning of the year.

I havent really looked into it, but the rumour is that life off-campus is really cheap, and totally worth it

Solid Gym – Towards the beginning of each semester the gym is filled to capacity; however, as time progresses people drop out and allow more space and less wait.

Expecations Without Disapointments – It was always as is FSU was waiting for me to get here. I participated in Sorority Recruitment before classes started and met some of the most genuine girls I've ever known. Though I did not join the greek community, I have never felt excluded. The friendly atmosphere of Market Wednesdays in the Student Union and the Study Abroad fairs let me browse other ways to get involved. Tally is not a big city, so taking one loop around campus was all it took to know my way around. Ive never been lost here. The night clubs are always packed and the vintage shops are my favorite hang out. Venues constantly atract musical artists like Avicii. Those are just a few of the things I've been enjoying since I got here, but my main reasons for staying at FSU are the following. The professors are unforettable. I never thought a girly girl like myself would enjoy attending Microeconomics class. I'm serious. Finally, there is a niche for everyone. There wasn't a place for me in high school. Here, you can't easily tell who was cool in high school or how much money people have (Everyone is on financial aid and the campus is so big you couldnt possibly be found by your Regina George). The issues I faced in my home town disappeared into the relaxed enviornment of FSU, allowing me to focus on finding myself and working toward a degree.

Typical Florida Stuff – In August, don't bother getting dressed or straighening your hair. That's coming from a fashion major. You will sweat through your clothes and you will carry the largest water bottle you can buy. Come November, you may be confused as to why it hasn't gotten cooler yet. It will. Nonetheless, Ive never experienced anything below 30 degrees. I like that if I have to take early classes, I can throw on a sweather at 8 am and toss it in my bag by 10 am. Oh, Florida!

Beautiful and Always Growing – We always have construction zones. That is my only complaint about the brick-walled historically beautiful camups. I see the constant construction projects as a sign that the school is growing, always needing more dorms, smoother sidewalks, and safer roads. Because everything is maintained well, all the facilities look so clean. The gym is about five or more times the size of the YMCA I worked out in near my high school. Besides, I can grab a green tea from Starbucks on the walk back to my dorm to recharge. One of the most friendly places on campus is the Stroizer Library, fondly known as Club Stroz. The whole first floor is always buzzing with gossip allowing the second and third floors to be overflowing with space for students to get serious work done- even at 2am!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
