Tallahassee Living – Tallahassee isn't a big city, but it has a friendly college town atmosphere. There are a variety of inexpensive clubs and inexpensive restaurants for students (a popular spot is The Strip) and Wakulla Springs state park is a half hour's drive from Florida State University's campus. Panama City Beach is a two hours drive.

parking is a real toughy at FSU. they build a new parking structure almost every other year or so, but more and more students bring cars to school. cars are DEFINITELY not necessary freshmen year, especially if youre living on campus. proximity is NEVER an issue because the layout is so efficient. i would suggest a bike for the farthest distances youd even have to travel OFF campus to get any type of necessaries. there are no need for parking permits at fsu unless you want to park in a handful of permit-required spots. those permits can be expensive, and the costs of fines run about 20 dollars to 150 depending on your violation. these parking fines are 99% avoidable as long as you show up to campus to find a spot in decent time before class though

everyone is very courteous to one another around campus no matter what race you may be. even the clubs, fraternaties, interest groups, etc. that ARE ethnic based are all really friendly. i know for a fact that this is true because i hang around my student union after lunch with a few friends before we head to class to watch "market wednesdays" where all the black fraternities hold hilarious dance offs and skits. me and my friends are white, and noboby even throws us a snide glance. nothing but friendly faces. im also friends with a number of girls in the asian sorority who are just as elegant as any other sorority girl ive met

No Compaints! i love my campus and fsu definitely goes the whole 9 yards to make sure everything looks spic and spam inside AND out. landscaping is constantly maintained and buildings, whether new or old, are always ready to impress any visitors or guests. its very reassuring for when friends and family visit to not be worried they will get a bad impression of your school.

Health & Safety:
Fairly Safe – Constant flow of emails denoting various cases of assault and muggings

It is very difficult to find parking during the week. One the weekends it gets a little easier but a lot of parking lots are far away from most of the dorms.

Computer Labs – Florida State has a lot of computer labs to go to.

Pretty Strict – Parties will always go on, but it's best to be discreet about it. Campus security does take safety seriously.

If you need access to a computer, Florida State has probably got you covered. The library offers several computers and you can usually find a free one, unless it's the day before a big exam day like finals.

It's All Right – Tallahassee is the state capital, so it's nice to be able to say that you go to school in such an important place. The neighborhood surrounding Florida State isn't of the highest quality, and there tends to be more to do on campus rather than off. As far as excitement goes, the city of Tallahassee doesn't have all that much to offer.

There is a lot of alcohol on any college campus. However, FSU might take the cake. The positive is since all the nightlife events are nearby you don't need to drive and you can walk. There are lots of alcohol and it is pretty enforced. DO NOT go to Bullwinkles with a fake you WILL get it taken away or worse.

Overall, we have a great amount of computers and if you ever need a place to print something is easy to find without a problem. The ONLY problem with this category is that there is no wireless throughout the campus. They have been trying to find a way to get the wireless signal to get through the brick walls, so hopefully soon enough we will have wireless.

Health & Safety:
There are a decent amount of robberies that happen around campus or even on campus late at night. Some armed robberies and at times there are cases of people getting drugged. It's not the worst safety I have seen at universities but it is still pretty sketch at times. The positive is they have these safety poles around campus that if you press the button it will call FSU PD and they will come.

Parking on campus can be really bad. Especially around 12 pm and afternoon. Although it is beneficial to have some sort of transportation (from car, to motorcycle, to a bike) to get around town, you don't need one for on campus

A Night Out Never Hurts – The police force can be strict, but they won't harrass you for being noisy and intoxicated. They're more concerned about drivers under the influence and fights that break out.

Guys & Girls:
The college is extremely diverse. However, I would say that most of the students come from upper-middle class families and are well off. Most are typically dressed nicely and care about their education. There is a very large population that is involved in the greek system. FSU is also known for their outstanding arts programs so there are also alot of students that are creative. There is a very good balance of races and backgrounds. You come across all sorts of different people daily, and there is always some sort of student orginazation holding events.

The campus is set on hills in Tallahassee. The entire campus is made up of brick buildings, some older and historical and some new, but all of the best quality. We have all necessary resources and top of the line facilities there for our use. The grounds are kept nicely and there is a huge sense of student involvement. It is a school of tradition and unity.

As a dance major, we are challenged daily to increase technique, knowledge of our craft and the necessary skills to ensure that is carried on. The faculty members come from impressive backgrounds of experience and education and really care about the progress of each student.

Drugs Are Popular – Drugs and alcohol are definitely visible at FSU but FSUPD does do a great job at enforcing policies and stopping illegal activity. FSU has a well-know reputation for being a party school so some things you cannot change completely when it comes to drugs and alcohol. But FSUPD does it part in restricting illicit activity from becoming a major issue on campus.

Greeks Are Highly Involved – The Greek life on campus is ubiquitous. Greek at Florida State University seem to have a great balance social life and school work. Greeks play a significant role in student government association and major events on campus however you do not have to be Greek to enjoy the luxuries of our campus.

Union Is Great – There are many opportunities through the student union that allow them to get involved on campus. Events such as Market Wednesday where Registered Student Organizations table in the Union help you notice the easy opportunity you have to get involved.

You can bike/walk anywhere on campus in 30 minutes or less. There are parking lots all over the place, but there are also city buses and sidewalks everywhere. Cars can become a hassle on campus.
