College Prowler Take
Over the past several years, FSU has been trying to tone down the party-school reputation and put more emphasis on academics and athletics. Underage drinking is the biggest problem on campus, and the FSUPD are ever-vigilant when it comes to monitoring on-campus festivities. The quiet, subdued affairs generally don’t have any problems. When things get loud is when the FSUPD steps in. This is not to say you still can’t have a good time. On-campus parties are frequent, especially during football season. However, to avoid trouble with the school, it’s best to party off campus. Just be aware of what you’re doing, keep things under control, and party smart. Respect the police and they’ll respect you. Campus police don’t play around when is comes to underage drinking. FSU has a strict policy about that, as well as drug use. Expulsion is not unheard of, and several Greek houses have been censured by the University. As long as things are kept under control, the campus cops won’t break up the party. As soon as things begin to get rowdy, be prepared to see the blue flashing lights pull up outside. The main thing to watch out for is the Tallahassee Police Department. They have established a Party Patrol that not only roams the streets, but also responds to neighborhood complaints. These guys do not mess around. If they show up, expect them to write a ticket or two. If they don’t show up, you have nothing to worry about. If you don’t get too loud, you should be fine.

FSUPD are very strict about underage drinking. You can cry and yell and all that, but they’ll still write you up for it. Sometimes, they’ll just make you pour out your drinks, but if you make a scene, they’ll make tough on you. |

The police aren’t bad at all. To get caught for something ,you have to really be bothering someone somehow. Most RAs don’t mind drinking, as long as you’re not walking around. Tons of people smoke in their bathrooms, and it’s not a problem. |

The police are fairly harsh. I’ve heard of a couple people getting caught, but only because they were being dumb, smoking weed out in front of their dorm, drinking in the dorm lobby, or something stupid like that. If you’re careful, you will never get caught. |

The administration here tries to run a tight ship, but they’ll still let the students have fun. They don’t mess around when it comes to serious offenses like underage drinking, cheating, and stuff like that. This can be a party school, within reason. |

It depends on how you handle yourself. Being loud and obnoxious is going to draw attention to yourself and get you arrested. Keeping a low profile is the best bet. The cops know the students need to blow off some steam, so they can be cool. |
