If you want to see an FSU student get all worked up, ask them about parking on campus. Most of the lots are full by 8:30 in the morning, and trying to get a spot after that is like looking for ice cubes in the desert. The general rule for students taking classes later in the day is to arrive at least 30 to 40 minutes ahead of time, and then be prepared to wait. FSU has taken small steps to improve the situation, but so far it hasn't been enough. Some students opt to ride bicycles, motorcycles, or scooters. They also rely on the local bus system. The school is serious about parking violations, and the tickets can be expensive. Also, unpaid fines will result not only in late fees, but also in holds being put on registration and graduation. Despite all the complaints, the school continues to drag its feet on fixing the problem.
The thing that gets most students angry is the fact that they have to pay a parking fee, but it doesn't guarantee a parking space. Most people end up circling the lots like vultures, waiting for someone to pull out so they can all scramble to fill the vacancy. The University doesn't allot spaces; it's a first-come, first-serve basis.
