Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The FSU Seminole Express bus system is a reliable and safe way to get around campus, with service running on average of every 10–15 minutes. It’s also free, which makes it extremely popular with the student body. StarMetro, Tallahassee’s bus system, also offers free service with a valid student ID. Tallahassee can boast one of the better public transportation systems in the state. City buses are always a reliable way to get around town, and FSU has a regular bus route around campus that is a lifesaver during the heat of summer. There is also a downtown trolley that runs Monday through Friday, and taxis are always an option for those with money burning a hole in their pocket. In a pinch, you can always call a cab to get you around downtown or to one of the shopping malls.

If you’re looking to venture outside the city limits, there are a number of car rental agencies close to campus. The Tallahassee Regional Airport also provides reliable service, but expect to pay more for airfare. Some people forego the local airport, renting a car, instead, and driving to Jacksonville or Atlanta to save a couple hundred dollars. Basically, as long as you aren’t going too far, transportation around campus and the city is convenient and cheap.

Reliable Yet Crowded

The transportation that goes around campus is reliable when it comes to time pick-ups and bus stops off campus usually have a time schedule to tell you when the bus should be there every day. They hit all major apartment complexes around campus but can get extremely crowded, especially in the middle of the day when most people are on campus. If you have to make your way across campus your best bet is to walk because it would be a lot faster than riding the bus that travels on the outskirts of campus. And if a bus is packed don't expect to squeeze in, they'll usually tell you theres one coming right after them. Overall the bus is a great form of transportation to get to and from campus but you're better off walking once you get there.
