Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The FSU Seminole Express bus system is a reliable and safe way to get around campus, with service running on average of every 10–15 minutes. It’s also free, which makes it extremely popular with the student body. StarMetro, Tallahassee’s bus system, also offers free service with a valid student ID. Tallahassee can boast one of the better public transportation systems in the state. City buses are always a reliable way to get around town, and FSU has a regular bus route around campus that is a lifesaver during the heat of summer. There is also a downtown trolley that runs Monday through Friday, and taxis are always an option for those with money burning a hole in their pocket. In a pinch, you can always call a cab to get you around downtown or to one of the shopping malls.

If you’re looking to venture outside the city limits, there are a number of car rental agencies close to campus. The Tallahassee Regional Airport also provides reliable service, but expect to pay more for airfare. Some people forego the local airport, renting a car, instead, and driving to Jacksonville or Atlanta to save a couple hundred dollars. Basically, as long as you aren’t going too far, transportation around campus and the city is convenient and cheap.

Transportation

There is a bus system that goes not only all over campus, but also to the major apartment complexes around town. If you live on campus there's really no reason to take the bus, however. And there's always the NightNole, the bus system that runs after hours, and NoleCabs for any student who can show ID. It's pretty easy to get around campus at any given time.

Lots of Options!

Public transportation is great during the day at Florida State. If students are not packed on to the buses, they are walking, on a scooter/moped, driving, or bicycling. Regarding the night, besides taxi cabs, there are a couple safe ride services that will come and get you if you call them. Our school also has a program that cabs only cost $4 with a FSU ID on your way home from any bar or club any night of the week.
