my online courses are relatively challenging facing the fact I'm close to doing 20 units in one semester

Tuition & Financial Aid:
tuition is hardly worth talking about as there is little tuition cost at all. for four classes (an average full schedule) you will pay approximately $400-$500, plus the cost of books. a friend of mine applied for financial aid (her parents are divorced) and received it promptly; her tuition cost dropped to about $40 a class. unbelievable.

Amazing! It seems there are just computers you can use everywhere!

Foothill is home to an array of ethnicities. Everyday I can hear and see people that come from all parts of the world.

I love the overall vibe of the campus. Even though it's just a community college, the environment gives of this mature, motivating feeling for succeed.

Due to a lack of communication on campus, not all students know about the different programs, organizations, and events (hence the "A-").
We do have some great programs! Our student government is heavily involved in activities and student run organizations. We have heritage 9 heritage months. There is a "college hour" every week that vary greatly in subject (heritage month event, college/career focused, clubs, carnival, etc.). We also have numerous media labs on campus (so students who don't have access to a computer should have no problem getting their work done).

I am most proud and excited about the diversity at my school. The campus is highly diverse and is known for our Heritage Months. Our Heritage Months include ethnic, religious, and sexual celebration/diversity. There are also a huge amount of clubs, so that any group that doesn't have their own heritage month has a club.

There are a few different programs available that help students excel in their classes (Pass the Torch, tutoring, several media labs). As long as students look at Rate My Professor before enrolling in a class, they should have a decent professor (in the last 3 years I have only had one really bad professor). The registration process is easy due to being automatically added to a wait list (if necessary), knowing what day/time you can register, and being able to easily add/drop classes. The workload and curriculum vary greatly between teachers and subjects, which makes it difficult to know what to expect with each class.

As with most college experiences, the online courses greatly depend on the teacher. I've had classes were the workload was minimal and I've had classes where the workload seemed worse than being in a regular classroom environment. Most of the teachers try to motivate peer-to-peer interaction by requiring that students respond to each other's posts. Some take it too far, however, and require less possible tactics, such as responding to several posts, each 24 hours apart (which detracts from the accessibility of an online course). The professor/student relationship is also quite inconsistent. Unfortunately, it seems as though a disproportionate amount of students have a negative experience when they genuinely need extra help from their professor. Examples include a lack of explanation on grades/expectations, not being understanding when technological issues arise (being highly inflexible), or simply not responding to any messages. All in all, I appreciate being able to take online courses to fit my schedule, but I'm aware that they are a mixed bag and may end up working harder than if I were to take a in class course.

I'm a Sociology major and have found that there are a number of classes related to my major (and future field). This has helped me be able to choose which classes to take, as opposed to only having a few mandatory choices. The one negative part of the courses is that the same information seems to be repetitive. For example, I've had to write five papers on Sociological Imagination (one for a Psych class, one for a Women's Studies class, and 2 for Sociology classes).

Mostly, my school has a majority of young students, from what I have seen, with typical jobs and living the collage life. Their are many clubs that are offered for all types of race or ethnicity so its an outgoing enviroment. Their priority are to get a higher education but socializing is another way the school rolls.

The professors are great here they are always willing to help you out even when they dont have time they always try to book you in an appointment to meet up with them. There is also special programs that help with homework and their is a big librabry where homework can be done peacfully and quietly. There is also many helpful counselors that can help make right choices in your future career or plans. I am acually really pleased with all the help I get here.

I have never taken an online class but from what I herd from other students it sounds a little difficult becuse you dont get to interact with the teacher as much. When you have a question you have to email and some teachers are good at responding and some take a while (from what i have herd). If i had a choice to take it i dont think i would because personally I like to interact with my teachers and have questions answered face to face.

I'm majoring in health science, and so far I am starting my major classes which will include heath and biology classes so im expecting a lot of work. Im am super excited and looking forward to another quarter, as well as starting my major classes. The unique thing anout helth science is that you are pretty much learning anout health in a science way so you look deeper into the body.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The education im getting is kind of worth the money im paying for becuse text books can be really expensive at time, especially when u get more than one 70 dollar book. Financial aid helps a bit but they give u money depending on icome so if you or your family member makes too much you get less money or nothing at all. The financial aid building at my school is pretty decent if you go at the right times you wint have to stand in the line for a long time and they are very helpful. A great tip for books is to look for it online or sometimes students resale books for reasonable prices.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I feel that the value of the education I'm receiving is worth the tuition. However, dealing with the financial aid office is frustrating at best.

I haven't used the career services so I'm not sure about the quality.
College Senior 2013-08-02T18:50:40Z
Great school overall - however, the administration and financial aid process are antiquated and difficult to work through.

Foothill has partnerships with textbook renting companies as well as rideshares, and internships and partnerships with local universities.

The career center equips jobs pretty easily. I've never tried working through the career center, however alot of my friends have recently acquired jobs through the center. People aren't generally needing to get work through the career center as most people in community college already have jobs and are just trying to further their education to transfer while they save.
College Senior 2013-07-22T18:28:14Z
Foothill College is one of the best schools a potential transfer student could ask for. Everything is geared towards your academic propulsion. they just underwent lots of construction to get a new Science and mathematic building and the campus constantly undergoes upkeep in artistic expression and functionality. The library is open for a wide range of hours and is very accommodating. Its a very open social campus very easy to meet people and to network. It is less than a commuter school one would think of. I always joke with my friends. " I wish Foothill was a Four-year"

Nothing but amazing things to say about the resources that are available to me at this school! New classrooms new buildings new computers. The campus looks awesome.
College Senior 2013-07-02T06:37:41Z
The professors seem very involved with their students, they seem to care about their students. I have talked to professors several times but they are always very willing to go out of their way to make time for you to succeed. The campus itself is also very beautiful and it gives it a very modern as well as nature vibe to the campus which I believe is a definite plus for the learning environment.

I am new to Foothill but from the few people at the college that I have met have all been very nice, helpful and polite which is nice for a change.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
