Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Fordham's varsity teams often leave a lot to be desired when it comes to school pride in the teams. The records for the most hyped-up sports like football and men's basketball aren't very impressive, to say the least. Still, the school tries to keep nonathletes engaged with the teams by offering prizes and giveaways at many of the home sporting events. Unfortunately, the teams that do the best tend to fly under the radar when it comes to campus attention. The achievements of the softball and swimming teams aren't as well-known as the losses of some other, more-talked-about teams.

If you loved to play sports in high school but didn't get asked to play varsity in college, there's still a chance for you to get out on the field. Fordham offers a wide variety of club and intramural sports. Club teams are pretty legitimate; they travel and get pretty competitive with other schools. There are club teams for baseball, crew, hockey, men's lacrosse, men's and women's rugby, sailing, and men's and women's soccer. Just looking to have some fun without the commitment of being on a real sports team? Intramural sports at Fordham are very popular with students who are just looking to have a good time with their friends without getting super competitive.

Teams Are Mediocre

The sports teams are mediocre. There is not that much fan support. Intramural sports and club sports are more lively/school-spirited.

School Spirit

The Fordham University student body is very uninterested in the sports the school has to offer due to the unfortunate fact that it is very rare for one of the teams to win a game.

School Spirit

Fordham is quite deficient in school spirit when it comes to athletics. Unfortunately, several of the teams do not have very good winning records. Even more unfortunate, the teams with the best records are often the most overlooked. Distance and time of games seems to keep most Lincoln Center students from attending sporting events, while pure lack of interest and hope deters the Rose Hill students.

Getting Tickets

Undergraduate students get free admission to any home game of any sport as long as they show their Fordham ID. For an away game, students must purchase tickets for whatever price the opposing school is selling them for. Depending on the game, Fordham will sometimes have lower-priced tickets available for students who wish to attend away games.

Best Place to Take a Walk

If you're at Rose Hill, a walk or run around the entire campus is always nice, weather permitting. If you're looking for a shorter route, Edwards Parade is perfect. Students get free entrance into the New York Botanical Garden (which is right across the street from campus) so that's an excellent place to walk if you're looking for a change of pace and some beautiful scenery. If you're at Lincoln Center, Central Park is the place to go to take a walk; it's very close to the campus and a lovely place for a stroll.
