College Prowler Take
Although Fordham is a Division I school in athletics, sports are not necessarily a major part of student life. Any trace of athleticism is absent from Lincoln Center, while many Rose Hill students are merely bored by their school’s poor athletic record. Club sports are growing in popularity as they prove to be an enjoyable, low-stress alternative to the varsity world. Students form strong communities in intramural and club sports. Statistics aside, Fordham College at Rose Hill is still a place to be if you are a sports fan or athlete. Scholarships are rewarded and competition is strong. Fordham also has an impressive historical background in its athletics. Football coaching legend Vince Lombardi is an alum, and the school’s facilities have been used for various big-name games. Students therefore have the option of enjoying a thriving sports community, while those who prefer foosball are comfortable in a school that doesn’t shove footballs down their throats.

At Fordham, varsity sports are...
At Fordham, varsity sports are there if you want them. The basketball teams probably have the biggest turnouts at games, although occasionally the football games can become overrun with students. Intramural sports, on the other hand, are a big part of student life at Fordham. Nearly every team is coed, and many teams that form during freshman year stay together throughout the four years most students spend at the school.

Everybody thinks we’re a big jock school, but sports just don’t seem that big here. None of the teams are that good, even though we’re Division I. |
