Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Fordham students are generally pleased with the dorm options on campus. Freshman options aren't the best, as they have community bathrooms and tend to be a little bit smaller. The plus side of living in freshman dorms is the sense of community and friendship created by living so closely with everyone for a year. Options get better for upperclassmen, as all the dorm options include private bathrooms and larger rooms. Juniors and seniors have the best choices and often end up living in apartment-style dorms. If you're lucky, you'll eventually get to live in one of the apartments in CSC (Campbell and Salice-Conley halls), which opened in the fall of 2010. A big perk of living in an on-campus residence at Fordham is the laundry in every building. Not many schools offer the luxury of free washers and dryers, and you certainly won't find that in any off-campus apartment. Lincoln Center's McMahon Hall offers incredibly spacious apartment-style living. It's the only dorm at the Lincoln Center campus, so it is open to students in any year.

Something all residents complain about is the lottery system for housing. It gets revised often to try and make it easier, but every little nuance adds more confusion and more headaches for students. Another complaint that residents often make is regarding the RAs. While some resident assistants act like normal people, others are on a total power trip and look for every excuse to get residents in trouble. Overall, those are only minor issues in what is typically a fun and irreplaceable experience.

Food and Convenience

The food at Fordham is terrible (gives major diarrhea!!).

Campus is in a dangerous neighborhood; stepping off campus to go explore the neighborhood is inconvenient and nonetheless very dangerous.

The Best

The dorms at Licoln Center are amazing. I share a room with two girls and it is extremely spacious. We share a common room, kitchen, and bathroom with 2 other girls and it works out fine. We also have an awesome view of nyc from our window. The dorms definitely contributed to my decision to come to LC.
