Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Dorming at Rose Hill has its high and low points. Even the smaller, freshman buildings like Alumni North and South are a decent size, and the housing situation only improves with each housing lottery. Martyr’s Court, one of the newer dorms, is tightest on space, while Walsh Hall boasts the roomiest suites. Unlike Lincoln Center, Rose Hill’s dorms create tight communities, something that’s inevitable when sharing bathrooms is a necessity. Upperclassmen generally enjoy off-campus housing, although dorm prices could certainly be beat by renting apartments without Fordham affiliation.

Lincoln Center’s apartments receive near unanimous praise, and the large suites deserve every word of it. Every room is self-sufficient, with its own kitchen and bathroom. Even the smaller suites are large in comparison to any “affordable” NYC apartment you’re likely to find. Since the building is connected to Lowenstein, students are a mere elevator ride away from class (a major benefit in snowy winter weather). The only downside that comes with such impressive housing is that students rarely form social and active floor communities. Because there is no reason to share bathroom or kitchen space, many residents will go semesters without knowing their neighbors. Some students are surprised and upset about the lack of social life within the residence community, while others enjoy the comfort of privacy.

The Best

The dorms at Licoln Center are amazing. I share a room with two girls and it is extremely spacious. We share a common room, kitchen, and bathroom with 2 other girls and it works out fine. We also have an awesome view of nyc from our window. The dorms definitely contributed to my decision to come to LC.

Sometimes a Hassle

I think that the dorms are relatively nice, but the housing process is confusing and somewhat unfair, and the guest policy is absolutely ridiculous!
