Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Fordham’s diversity depends on your standard. Classes at Lincoln Center usually feel ethnically mixed, especially in the social science programs. Rose Hill is a little “lighter,” but it maintains an adequate mixture of students. Many minority students are left unmoved by the student make-up; others find the combination inspiring and refreshing. Women outnumber men at both campuses, more so at Lincoln Center due to its dance program. Gay tolerance is exceptional, in part due to the comfort of New York City. Although Fordham is a Catholic institution, other faiths are both welcomed and celebrated.

Like most universities, Fordham could use a widening of its student diversity. There is a generous amount of active minority clubs present on both campuses, but many students find that minority students generally stick together within their ethnic identity. The male/female ratio is a constant source of annoyance (especially for dateless women), and the political activity remains strong only in small numbers.

Fairly Diverse

Fordham's campus is filled with many different types if people coming from all over the U.S and world. Although there are many diverse students there are also a good amount of the classic white upper class students with the best electronics and accessories.

Location

Great location to take advantage of. No other school like it that is so close the City and still has the qualities of a traditional college campus. Makes students available to many opportunities you would not find elsewhere

It all white or asian

If you are black or latino you will probably be the only student of your race in that class. Now I have not experienced or seen any racism here. So if your ok with being the only student of color in your class, than this is a great school for you.

Facts

Gay Pride

Despite what you might think about its Catholic affiliation, Fordham is extremely comfortable with homosexuality. Lincoln Center contains a high population of gay students, and both LC and Rose Hill have gay support clubs.

Political Activity

Conservatives generally outnumber liberals in the Bronx, while Lincoln Center leans more towards the left. Although many students are politically motivated, both campuses suffer from an unfortunate case of widespread political apathy.

Economic Status

Fordham students are a mixed bag of economic backgrounds. There is a fairly high number of private school graduates due to Fordham’s Catholic affiliation, but Fordham also draws in a large number of lower-income students.

Most Common Religions

Catholicism, Judaism

Anime Society, Asian Cultural Society, Asia Society, Ciao Amici Italian Club, Deutscher Klub, El Grito Del Lares, Gaelic Society, Hellenic Society, International Students Association, Molimo, Muslim Students Association, Philippine American Club, Pope Dante Italian Society, Society Francaise, Student Organization of Latinos (SOL)
