Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Both Manhattan and the Bronx are home to some of the best restaurants in the country. The Bronx boasts some great Italian restaurants in the Belmont area, and many mom-and-pop stops that are both ideal for dates and dinner parties. Pete’s Café, with its convenient location right outside of the Rose Hill campus, at times, feels like it should be the campus cafeteria. When all else fails, there’s always White Castle (for better or worse).

Lincoln Center’s dining options could hardly get any better. Take a walk down 9th Avenue for your choice of Thai, Chinese, American, Sushi, or even Ethiopian cuisine. Famous landmark eateries include Al’s Soup Kitchen, the truly frightening, truly delicious inspiration for Seinfeld’s infamous “Soup Nazi” episode. You must experience it to believe it, both the act of buying soup (there are rules) and the delicious cuisine itself. Gray’s Papaya, the hot dog joint featured on Sex and the City and in the film Fools Rush In, offers one of the best bargains in town with a $2.50 special for two hot dogs and a large shake. Alan’s Marketplace, the deli located right across the street from Fordham, is becoming the alternative to campus dining; with its $5, five-topping salads, you can’t go wrong.

Appetizing Archer Ave

While not much variety is available there are multiple amazing spots just a short walk off campus. This Little Italy located in the Bronx provides an array of delicious well prepared food as well as amazing pizza (such as Full Moon's). There are also many amazing Hispanic restaurants that fit within the college student budget such as Parilla and Three Way.

A Lot to Offer

FCLC's location is prime for dining. A lot of places deliver to us (per delivery.com) and a lot of students go to The Flame, a 24 hour diner that has pretty good food. The cafeteria is disgusting... I found a dead, rather large spider in my salad AT ORIENTATION. It also has the most ridiculous hours (closes after 4 on weekends). You'll want to avoid it when you can, and there's plenty of options to choose from.

ALERT: Listen NOW New Prospects-Do Not Go to Fordham, I Repeat Take It Off Your List Now.

The only reason why this school isn't given an F is because you are able to access Manhattan for the average fee of about $15 roundtrip. The girls are whales, lesbians, or the most social awkward creatures ever (the rare hot ones especially, or they are snotty rich girls who have boyfriends in the City). The guys vary from the stuck-up Christian to the lonely stoner drunk, everyone drinks their miseries away, it's actually very sad. Don't get me wrong I love partying; in fact I was planning on going to Boulder to basically get my fill of drugs, alcohol, and sluts. The reason why I didn't still haunts me today, however I made the decision to withdraw as soon as I could. If you choose Fordham BE READY to deal with the biggest assholes in your life: the student population consists of rich sheltered white kids who only care about themselves, the goal of Residential Life is to get you in as much trouble as possible, and be prepared to be mugged at least once if not twice in your career. I was witness to a gang shooting where two men were shot, one was killed. RAs will go out of their way to catch kids drinking and will write you up for Marijuana on the basis that your room smells like weed. Even if you are an OCCASIONAL user, you will be written up, your room will be searched, you will have to pay hundred$$$ in fines!! By the way if you even consider having sex while you are in college make sure you do it before 3 am, or else you'll be getting a BJ in the bushes during the snowy February days. Campus security is a joke, yet beware if you are caught by campus security you are PHUCKED with a capital F. The FOOD is filled with laxatives, as a majority of the materials used are preserved from a can, and you have ONE cafeteria to choose from which closes at 8PM! So no "free" late night snacks, munchies, or energy boosts. For your first two years you will be given Graduate student teachers, who couldn't give a damn about your learning progress. Basically be prepared to learn nothing, do average in school, and drink you're sorrows away a majority of the weeks. Also, you are in New York, so any type of fun you have to PAY for. That means you need $$ if you even want to have an average time. All of my close friends, ergo the cool people you won't meet, are planning or in the process of transferring. I do not wish any bad luck on anyone who chooses Fordham as their next step, in fact I hope you have a better experience that me and my peers had. If you do choose Fordham though, understand this...YOU WERE WARNED!
