I Love Fordham

I do love Fordham, but like most colleges, it has it's downsides. I think the price is astronomical for the quality of education I'm getting here. However the campus is the most beautiful I have seen (granted, in the worst area I have seen).

Disappointed by Fordham's Contributions

The Ram Van should be free, and shouldn't fill up so easily. They also smell. Metro-North is the best option. Then buses, and the D train. There are a lot of options which is great, but I think Fordham needs to step up their game. 3 dollars for a van ride is ridiculous.

Hate the Winter

Coming from Miami, I hate the winter. But I love NYC!!!

Take advantage of what you have

It all depends on what you take. There are some brilliant professors who will teach you things that you never knew you liked, and there are also classes that are a waste of time. Talk to upperclassmen and get a feel for what the professor is like, and how challenging the class is. As long as you stretch your comfort zone a little bit, the curriculum will be rigorous and rewarding.

More of a Bar Scene

There are a few potheads and kids who are into the harder drugs, but in general, everyone just goes to the bars. Campus security and ResLife are extremely strict, so you can't go too crazy.

Typical College Campus

The student and athletic centers don't offer much in the way of activities, but there is an activities board that always has fun stuff going on. There are a few coffee shops that are always busy. Library is gorgeous inside and out, as are a few of the newer buildings. Campus is like something out of a magazine, it's that beautiful.

Administrative Forgetfulness

Stay on top of your case. Call/go to Thebaud everyday if you have to. Because you'll probably have to.

Arthur Avenue Cannot Be Beat!

Arthur Avenue- the famed Little Italy of the Bronx (or the "real" Little Italy of New York)- is located just two block away from campus. Here, there are tons of restaurants to choose from, mostly Italian but also including Mexican and Japanese. Apart from these delicious options, the Bronx is filled with little restaurants offering an assortment of ethnic foods and cultural treats.

Library and Genera Campus Aesthetics Are Beautiful!

The Walsh Family Library was built within the last fifteen years and offers students a beautiful space in which to study. There are four floors, each having a specialized room or section, including a museum of Greek, Roman, and Etruscan art on the first floor. The basement houses a large auditorium in which many events on campus occur. The architecture of this building mirrors that of Keating Hall, another prominent building on campus. Almost every buildings model similar Gothic architecture (like the University Church) with a few exceptions, each with a look all their own.

I Love It Here!

A beautiful campus, LOTS of quiet places to study, an awesome library and computers. For the most part the students and faculty here are very pleasant and it is a wonderful experience attending school here.

Very Cold in NYC in Winter

Very important to dress properly, as it gets very cold here in the Bronx where our campus is located.

It all white or asian

If you are black or latino you will probably be the only student of your race in that class. Now I have not experienced or seen any racism here. So if your ok with being the only student of color in your class, than this is a great school for you.

Not the Best

There is not a lot of food variety on the Fordham University campus, and the food is not the cleanest.

Computers Accessible

There's a lot of computer accessibility on Fordham's campus. Students are charged to print, which I believe is unfair. I've never had trouble finding a computer to use on campus.

Great School

Fordham is a great place. Everyone is really friendly, nightlife is good, academics are intense and prestigious but there are so many resources on campus to help you if you need help. Expensive.

Depends What You're Into

Local bars that are very student-friendly, if that's what you're into. Off-campus apartment parties too. On campus there are some good school-sponsored activities but it's not exactly a party.

Atmosphere at Fordham

The immediate area is typical Bronx. Having Manhattan within reach is ideal. Yankee Stadium is only a few subway stops away. You'll never run out of things to do in Manhattan and it's easy and relatively cheap to get there from the campus (RamVan, subway, Metro North, etc.). Shopping in Manhattan is great, and local businesses around campus are good as well.

Annoying but for a Reason

I know Fordham Rose Hill is in the Bronx, so safety is a number one priority of the University, and they do take it seriously. It's really annoying though to have to get signed in to other dorms on campus if you don't live there. Anyone with a school I.D. should be able to get in to on campus buildings. Fordham also takes it's no underage drinking seriously, but only if you're careless enough to get caught. Otherwise, all of Fordham's academic policies are aimed towards helping students achieve success!

Very Challenging !

The academic level at Fordham University is extremely high. The workload may vary according to different professors, but will always be pretty heavy. Most classes are very interesting, especially when one starts to specialize himself within his major.

The Food

The dining options aren't the best. Luckily as a sophomore I now have my own kitchen and am able to cook myself whatever pleases me. However, a few delis provide nice late night soups and salads, which is always convenient in case of need. There is one great point, it's that the Rose Hill campus is located next to the Little Italy of the Bronx and thus gets to enjoy fresh Italian groceries and restaurants.

Beautiful Campus

On the Rose Hill Campus the buildings all around campus are absolutely beautiful. The surrounding parks are magic and the landscape is in great shape. It is a joy to walk from one place to another all year around !

THE BEST!! NOTHING LIKE THE REST

This is the place where you could have you dreams come true if you like the urban feel with the safe environment of suburban area. This is it; you are in walking distance from the famous little Italy, Bronx Zoo and Botanical Gardens. It's not only a place home away from home but it’s a place where you could let you brain run wild. Love this place I don’t see myself anywhere else.

Health and Safety

All the Security guards on campus are ex cops in some way, shape, or form. Their is a constant presence of security on campus and inside the gates I always feel safe. Outside the gates, one must realize that they are in the Bronx and have to use cation at all times.

The health center on campus is pretty slow if you have to go in for a sickness. They make you wait a considerable amount of time for sub par treatment.

Intercampus Transportation, but Limited

intercampus transportation is available, though its overpriced. the subway is close by, as is the metronorth station.

Catholic School

Most guys and girls came from private Catholic schools. Most people are from the tri-state area but quite a few hail from California and Pennsylvania! Most people are friendly and nice to look at!
