How to Get to the Airport
- The ETS Air Shuttle–available at (718) 221-8344–or Super Shuttle Manhattan–available at (800) 258-3826–are probably your best bet to get to JFK or LaGuardia from the Bronx. ETS costs roughly $30, and Super Shuttle is more expensive.
College Prowler Take
Sure, you’re likely to suffer more headaches because of New York’s public transportation system than from excessive alcohol consumption, but at least you can always find a way to get where you’re going. Lincoln Center students enjoy the privilege of being two blocks away from some of the most consistent running subway lines in New York City. For Rose Hillers, the distance from the nearest stops is a bit longer, but not unreasonable. It’s hard to complain about transportation in a city with a myriad of options running both above and below ground. Whether you’re commuting or residing on campus, getting to know your transportation modes is a must. Subway lines are logical—once you come to understand them. Figuring out how to finance transportation is another key to planning your Fordham budget. Do you want to buy a monthly Metrocard, where $81 allows you unlimited service? Or should you just add money to your card as you go along? These are things that students figure out once they establish their travel patterns, but it is important to keep in mind the added costs. Although the subways are close to campus, you might find yourself hailing a cab on those late, cold nights. Any way you look at it, transportation in NYC is one expense that can add up quickly.

Being in New York City, Fordham...
Being in New York City, Fordham students have access to an incredible public transportation system. The school also provides transportation between its Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses, but students often choose to make the short walk to the Metro-North or Subway.

You can’t complain about transportation in NYC. If you do, just tough it out and walk. You’ll get where you need to be, eventually. |

The Ram Van is a blessing, especially late at night when you don’t want to board the scary D train. I just wish I didn’t have to pay for it. |

I love the Ram Van, but why do they have to charge $3 for it? That’s more than a subway ride. It’s nice to have the convenience of a little van to get you exactly where you want to go, but why charge so much? Aren’t we paying enough for tuition? |

It’s easy to get out of New York, which is nice, but all the prices have gone up. I like to take the LIRR to go to my friend’s beach house. The ride is fine and you can always count on it. |
